it's hard to believe the rules-makers couldn't have come up with something better. i mean, i understand that the match can't be forfeited since every point gets tallied in to a formula, but they could have created a practical equivalent... such as ending the match and giving the losing team a set % of pts after the injury.

judging by the comments, pretty much everyone who watched or heard about this thing considers it a joke. and sure, it sucks if you bought tickets to this to see a match end suddenly, but this was even worse.

can't even remember the last time i heard about something this weird happening in sports. maybe in baseball, where you have an endlessly long game in which every reliever gets tired out and they're forced to have an outfielder pitch or something.

another one that happened recently in an MMA fight- some guy broke his ankle early in a round and fought the rest of the round out, hardly able to stand because his foot was flopping all over the place.
