Teams are reluctant to move on Monroe but I think there is interest. Rumors are that he doesn't really want to play in Detroit but Detroit is likely to match unless someone makes a max or near max offer. Detroit is hoping for a sign and trade to emerge I believe, but I'm not sure that's coming. Most likely at this point is that he signs a qualifying offer and just rides out next season with Detroit, tests the Van Gundy plan and then tries to cash in as an UR Free Agent.

Someone should have thrown the MAX at him... because he's going to get it next season when he becomes an UFA anyways.

If the Pistons can trade Smith which has been mentioned with the Kings, he will be a Piston for the max or near it. SVG wants a Drummond/Monroe future long-term frontline.
Whats the Spurs cap situation next year??

I'm not sure how much teams still have to spend but Phoenix, Utah, or the Hornets should offer him max money on a 2 year contract with a player option in the 2nd year.
If no one will give him the 4 year max that he wants then this is better then taking the qualifying offer. Detroit will likely match but there is no harm in offering it.

We already have Noel And Embiid on rookie contracts, I don't really see us tying up big money in another front court player

Pistons have a new policy when dealing with Greg Monroe and his contract situation. They even put it in writing.
They call it....The Monroe Doctrine.

The Pistons don't know what they are doing.
