Migraines are brutal. Friend had them throughout high school and missed a lot of schooldays cause of it. Felt bad for him but he did end up graduating on time due to some leniency from the administration and his good grades.

This is what I thought. I cant blame a guy for not playing basketball after a migraine . The lights alone in the arena would be brutal. :confusedshrug:

Yeah dude, it's bad. He used to describe how painful it was. Thankfully for him, they weren't that brutal after high school somehow.

Because people that have never had one think its a headache.

Most people just don't understand how brutal a migraine can be and don't realize how much light compounds how horrible it is. Light only makes it worse so it would be pretty hard to go onto a basketball court and be expected to play. It's not even the pain so much as the fact that migraines affect your vision and your equilibrium...so it's pretty hard to play basketball effectively when the light on a court is sending lancing pains through your skull while you also are having trouble seeing and are dizzy.

I get them hoes frequently and I'm usually stuck in bed for a day. I just can't function. If I don't function. I've tried toughing it out and go to work and sit in my office with the lights off and I'll end up puking. Playing basketball would be suicide. I don't understand how Dwade is able to do it.

It's possible with shit like that. You can know, I guess... but it's also possible that dude did fake it or that it wasn't that serious.

With a real migraine it's nearly impossible to do anything but shut off the lights and curl into the fetal position.

It's the same people that made fun of Lebron because of the cramps. I get bad cramps when I exercise hard for a long time so I can understand why he had those. And getting migraines is very painful from what my ex-gf told me.

I literally don't believe anyone that says anyone ever played through one.

I DO NOT MOVE when I have one. Lights go out. I lay there until I fall asleep or its gone. Running is so far out of the question that its laughable.

Might as well call a quadriplegic a ***** for not playing without their wheelchair.

I use to get them when I was younger and there's no way in hell I could do anything beside lay in a dark room with my eyes closed motionless

Pretty much this. Migraines are much worse than just a ****ing headache.

If the trainers can get amphetamines and steroids in the football locker, then a basketball team doctor should be able to write a prescription, have someone go next door to a pharmacy and pick up migraine abortive medications.

no excuses

He actually played in what shamefully has become known as the "migraine game" (Game 7 of the 90' ECF). He played 42 minutes--but played poorly. He had trouble even distinguishing between Bulls and Pistons. KAJ also played a game with a migraine in the Finals and had just 6 points. It is safe to assume no player has dominated when they had a migraine, even a player of KAJ's caliber.

They've never had a true migraine before if they think he should have played....
