Kareem was out with injury in game 6. Rookie Magic started at Center and had a stat line of 42 pts/ 15 Rbs/ 7 Asts. He also won Finals MVP that night.

For a Historical reference, this is how Kareem faired post Oscar Robertson and before Magic joined him:

74-75: 38-44 (Milwaukee, first season without the Big O. The team won 59 games and lost in 7 in the finals to the Cs the season before in Oscar's last run)

75-76: 40-42 (First season in Los Angeles)

76-77: 53-29 (swept by the Blazers)

77-78: 45-37 (Team featured Adrian Dantley, James Edwards, Jamaal 'Silky' Wilkes... lost in the first round)

78-79: 47-35 (Lost in the second round)

79-80: 60-22 (Magic is drafted, leads team to championship while winning finals MVP with Kareem out)

Dem intangibles

There seem to be a few thread makers lately that dont have a full grasp on the word lead.

Best single finals game performance of all time?

In terms of intangibles and leadership?

Google search... after you type in what you're looking for, you go to images. Then you copy and paste here. Takes a few tries to get it right, but persistence pays off in the end.

OP just made this thread because of the Pippen threads.

He doesn't actually believe this about Magic.

This looks like an anti-Kareem thread with the bit about the Lakers when it was just him

yes... looks like http://hugelolcdn.com/i/58297.gif

Truth is I'm just an ultra dedicated Magic stan, been following him since his Michigan State days and epic showdown with Larry Legend in the NCAA championship game. But Kareem stans act like he's the GOAT and Magic was just some overrated role player.

You get that from reddit?

That's the theme.

That seems to be the motive here.

Dem intangibles

That's a rare trait.

Michael Jordan is GOAT, but when he came into the league he wasn't a true leader/winner. Great individual player but refused to trust teammates. He eventually developed into a true leader/winner.

But there are only a few players that enter the league as complete players and leaders, and ready to win.

Larry Bird and Magic Johnson are two of them. Instantly made their teams better and made it easier for them.

Defense is part of being a complete player. Magic barely played it because he wasn't good at it.

That's one of the reasons why he's overrated in my book.

Damn imagine if KAJ played in the modern era.

Haters today love to bring up Kobe losin in the first round twice, and for playin with Shaq.. Can't imagine the shit they would say about KAJ.

"Can't win without a goat point guard"

"Missed playoffs/lost in the first round"

"2 for 6 FMVP"
