Why does everything on Sportscenter be about LBJ when I really care way more about soccer and football during NBA offseason. Why did they never cover the Real Madrid spending spree after the World Cup for more than 5 minutes rather than tell us what LeBron had for breakfast this morning. I'm sick of this man and I don't even think he would be this great of a player in any other era that actually had SOME TYPE OF DEFENSE ala hand check etc.

I still have mine that I got back in 2006 or so. It's an authentic jersey too (not a replica), and very similar to the one he's holding up in the picture on the left.

I wonder what it's worth on eBay since it's a rare collectible due to the Great Cleveland Fire of '10. :kobe:

Riley really put the plan into action last November. During a Cavs visit to Miami, Riley arranged a get together with Michael Jordan and James. Jordan, who was in town to do some Nike work with Wade, at the time did not own a majority of the Bobcats.

During the meeting, Riley talked to James about how more modern players should pay homage to Jordan. Riley always had led this effort, retiring Jordan's No. 23 in the rafters at AmericanAirlines Arena even though Jordan never played in Miami.

The Cavs knew about it, and while it seemed like it could be classic tampering, they decided not to make an issue of it -- mostly because the meeting technically wasn't about free agency.

That night, James and Wade staged another strong individual battle. But the Cavs won when the Heat didn't have enough down the stretch, a common problem with Miami's roster last season. After the game, and after seeing Jordan and Riley sitting together courtside, James made an emotional statement on the court that he was going to ditch jersey No. 23 out of respect to Jordan. In fact, he felt all players should stop wearing No. 23.

Jordan & LeBron 23
Kareem & Bird 33
Shaq & Hakeem 34
Wilt 13
Duncan 21
Russell 6
Magic 32

So actually 3 sets of jersey numbers out of the top 10 GOAT are duplicates.

I don't really see it as a big deal, but does this guy ever follow through on anything he says?

"I'm not going to stop until I bring a championship to Cleveland" -- bolts to Miami

"Not one, not two, not three, not four, it's gon be easy!" -- loses two out of four Finals and damn near 3 Finals losses if not for a Ray Allen miracle.

"No one should ever wear 23 again" -- goes back to Cleveland "oh I'll wear 23 again"

I like that he respects MJ and has him as his GOAT, but still, sometimes it would probably be better if he just bit his tongue and said nothing.

Not sure what about that post seemed "excited." I think Riley did a masterful tap dance on LeBron and the seeds of James in Miami really began being seeded that night. However, the formation of the "Big Three" was something that had been in the works since the '08 Olympics. Woj has written about it extensively.

He already had one foot out the door in that video. Seems obvious now.

I'm not sure if the number change really has much of anything to do with it. The meeting alone is the really weird thing.

It's not like he had to announce his number change this far in advance if he planned on switching teams/numbers. He's going from Miami back to Cleveland and from 6 back to 23, but there was no late-season notification of the league office and the public. :confusedshrug:

But he declared March 2 (the league deadline for someone who wants to do so) of 2010 he was changing his number to 6 while he was still with the Cavs. Before he chose to leave Cleveland.

If he knew he was going to Miami then he wouldn't of had to file with the league and get their approval. If you go to a new team, you pick whatever number you want, unless of course it's retired.

I am glad LeBron James opted to go with 23. It does a lot for the sake of continuity. I wouldn't have liked to see #6 in Cleveland, because I'd like for Miami things to stay in Miami. And another number would have looked weird to me. Happy to see him go this route.

Like I said before, Lebron went back to zero rings. The dude wants to forget about Miami and Cavs fans won't bring up his rings.

Zilch rings.
