He gets way too much shit. He's made his mistakes, but the constant clowning is real tired and people need to move on. The East needs him badly..if Lebron/Irving/Wiggins(or Love) actually materializes as a championship-level team, which it should soon, that entire conference is ****ed. The only team that could hang with them would be the Bulls with Rose back in form.

Playoffs included lebron was without a doubt still #1 last year.
In their matchups Durant won the first (although not by as much as some made it out to be) and lebron won the second. Durant certainly isn't the leader lebron is if he takes a backseat to Westbrook!

Is there something wrong with me viewing Durant as somewhat submissive to Westbrook on the court? I think okc would benefit if everyone knew Durant was #2, mainly because Westbrook can become reckless.

Yes defense is important but D doesn't win a whole lot of championships anymore.
If your team has no rim protectors or specialist defenders, you can forget about winning championships.
Miami is the exception, although they had lebron wade Chalmers who collectively played good swarming defense on opponents. Bosh was OK too, until he got bodied up by stronger big men. Birdman was also very active protecting the rim, so perhaps Miami had decent defense as well and of course the pesky Battier.
Who do cavs have? Varejeo is solid but can't stay on the court and is more of a man defender than rim protector. Thompson occasionally blocks shots and then there's lebron. That's it. If they don't get anymore help on defense I guarantee a team like the bulls will bully their interior.

Too much is made about his injuries. He suffered a serious injury in 2012 and then again last year. That does not mean he will get hurt forevermore. He had no issues his first 3 seasons. What makes his injuries stick out is he has missed consecutive seasons due to them but the same thing could happen with a player in year 2 and then in year 12.

Yeah tearing your ACL and then meniscus in the other knee isn't a big deal at all. Guys who miss multiple seasons with knee injuries always bounce back 100% fine, it's nothing to worry about.
What makes his injuries stick out, (beyond the fact that they were back to back and that his recovery time was unconscionably slow) is that really bad knee injuries often damage a player's athleticism, and Derrick Rose relies 100% on his athleticism to be a good player.
The real reason that he catches so much shit is for the 2012-13 season when he was cleared to play by doctors prior to the playoffs, but refused to come back saying he didn't have enough 'muscle memory' to play. That complete lack of competitive fire doesn't go over well with the internet fans.

Westbrook had the same meniscus tear that Rose had, and even had a loose stitch setback and required ANOTHER surgery yet still returned from that injury faster than Rose did...

I agree with the above. What I meant is people make too much out of 2 injuries in projecting that he will continue to get injured. It is, unfortunately, possible that he winds up like Grant Hill and continues to play for many years but as a shell of his former self. Fortunately, all the reports thus far suggest he will bounce back.
The real reason that he catches so much shit is for the 2012-13 season when he was cleared to play by doctors prior to the playoffs, but refused to come back saying he didn't have enough 'muscle memory' to play.
Yeah I was not happy with that either, although I suppose the people around him were advising him to wait to avoid risking further injury.

Rose reinjured himself because he was such a pussie. Plain and simple. He should of came back when he was cleared and got some burn under those knees and gotten used to the NBA pace again but instead he sat out and when he came back he was scared to put weight on that knee so he put all his weight on his other knee.

Really???
1)Care to name other MVP's that did this at his age???
2)Did you not notice that he won two series on his back??? And consistently hit big shots??? Why are you lying???
At age 23.
3)He lead his team to the best record in the league with a new team, new coach, crazy injuries, and over a two dozen starting lineups??? 4)And please contrast that with fate of Dirk, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Dwight and Chris Paul when they joined new teams with more talent while much closer to their prime?
5)All of this and his team dominated the elite the last four months of the season. I don't recall the last team to do that.
6)Did you not notice that his team could not break a Miami trap?
7)Name me another team that cleared the first round whose team could not break a trap? Much less the hard doubles on Rose? Notice that this is game five, late in the series, and the Bulls aren't close to breaking hard doubles and look at every Rose highlight save only play where Rose doesn't have a hard double or triple teamed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfZCpXyf8yg
That is the real reason he has doubters...we just don't know how good he was/is.

And the reason he has haters is because his crazy fans wanted to prop him up and put him on levels he has not come close to earning yet.
I had a count where Rose had 14 threads since the playoffs began this year. Equal or more than anybody not named Lebron - he hasn't really played in two years. That's just sick. If you think it was his crazy fans starting them you absolutely have no reading ability.
8)Do you care to embarrass yourself with a ratio of how many hater threads are created versus Rose prop-up threads??? Why would anybody who reads these boards make such an absurd statement.
Are you going to humor us with attempted answers or you going to go the circuitous route?

I already provided a video above. Its game five, the last game of the series. And those are hard doubles. And that's just in the highlight reel. Why would they defend other point guards like that? Especially, one that has a superior scorer? Think before you write.

I already provided a video above. Its game five, the last game of the series. And those are hard doubles. And that's just in the highlight reel. Why would they defend other point guards like that? Especially, one that has a superior scorer? Think before you write.
Don't listen to Livingpussy, he clearly didn't watch rose play during his MVP season. Rose was the only player on the bulls who could actually score, they consistently doubled him or put a larger defender on him which clearly bothered him. Deng was too one dimensional and rose and boozer didnt mesh well. Anyways, repped

Rose is not going to be as explosive his first year back...it'll take a year or two before he's back to 90% of what he used to be.
If he doesn't tear his ACL again.
