you do realize that houston (the city) has nearly a million more people than Dallas (the city)? Besides, having lived in texas and visited both on dozens of occasions, houston is the much better city. The metro areas are both about 6.5 million.

The Dallas metro area is technically marginally larger than Houston (6.8 vs 6.3 million).

Houston is the smallest big market in the country. More NBA players stay in Houston during the off-season than any other city not named LA or NY. Nice shopping, nice food, near the gulf, nice weather, pretty cheap.

Right, the metroplex is slightly larger. How is the 5th biggest city in the nation the "smallest" big market? Are you saying there are only 5 "big markets" in the US? Is this based on something or just your opinion? So, Philly, Boston, Bay Area, Washington arent big markets? That seems crazy to me.

And, yeah, houston is great. Solid cultural scene (from museums and opera to world music and everything in between), incredible food scene, nice weather (though I hate the summers) and relatively easy to get around. Of the big 3 (Austin, Dallas, Houston), it was clearly my favorite. Austin had some definite perks (mostly scantily clad hot women and a topless public pool along with a broad music scene and solid local foods) but the ridiculous traffic and ill-planned growth doom it for me.

NBA fans hate on everything Houston. Most people consider Houston a shitty small market. Some other commonly held beliefs:

James Harden is a literally Hitler.
Morey is the worst GM in the league.
Dwight is a mental midget.
Houston has given away all their future picks.
Houston bench is completely depleted.
Morey is too cheap to match Parsons' contract. With Parsons gone, Houston is a lotto team.

Well,
Dwight is a mental midget. Morey is a great gm, everyone clowning on him taking these risks to try and get bosh are dummies. Having to include a pick to move lin was a bit much, but both he and asik are readily replaceable (for the role they had in houston). I do wonder about wing depth......

Don't get too close, Chandler.

Never get too close, especially with that family.

Parsons is the most alpha white dude in the NBA and more alpha than 99% of black dudes in the NBA.

When you see Parsons, you see no color. Just alpha.

From what I can tell theyre just into attention. And they need to date famous guys to get it.

The athletes and musicians whove been interested in the publicity that comes with dating whores-for-hire have happened to be black so far, which I think is what gives the impression that they have that preference. But lets be honest, they'll date anyone famous.

Frankly Im surprised and disappointed Parsons is stoopin down that low. Kanye needs a beard and Odom is a crackhead, but Parsons? Come on bro. Wadda ya doin???

It wasnt great. But it was massively better than both Dallas and Austin in my experience. Having both loops helps a ton. If there is an accident or something, its ****ed, but that is true everywhere.

In terms of "hustle and bustle" it does kinda feel that way. Walk through urban San Fran or Miami and it feels completely different than Houston in that regard.

Its not even a knock. It's obviously a big city but it doesnt feel as much like one as others.
