you can drive after drinking without drinking yourself up to a .201

for reference, that's almost exactly what my friend blew when the cops picked him up stumbling down the road screaming obscenities at buildings. I walked away from that encounter because I was much much less drunk.

No excuse for driving when you're that drunk. You have all that money, call a driver.

I understand why us poor/middle class people do it cause we don't want to shell out money for cab fair.(not an excuse) You should know your limits and whatnot.

But if you're a millionaire you should have a driver or be able to get a cab easy. I would just have parties at my crib so I could avoid stuff like this if I was rich.

Seriously? Driving drunk is a terrible decision. We all make mistakes so I'm not going to be the judge of whether someone's a "bad guy" or not. But drunk drivers kill innocent people on the road. And the degree of the offense matters. It's one thing to misjudge your buzz after having 2-3 drinks, or get plastered and drive the next morning not realizing you're still drunk. But getting wasted and driving that same night is clearly a terrible thing to do.

If a person makes a decision to satisfy his own ego or for convenience sake, and it places innocent lives at risk, they have a serious character flaw.

Let's leave it at that.

back when i was in the army me and my room mate were the ones who got ever new guy in the unit drunk beyon their limits and acting stupid. we took them to that point and then made fun of them. and then i was the man that was expected to take them back home. now i'm no normal guy. i'm the guy that is considered the best at his position. i'm the guy that is considered clean cut and better than everyone else. i'm the guy that is considered for every promotion. so i move up. i'm ****ing peyton manning up in my unit. and you know what, me and my roommate get mother ****ers drunk and make fun of them and then when they are done throwing up, i take them home to the barracks. no problem. i don't have to come across the main gate where they check for dwi's. i just take them from on post housing to the on post barracks. so i'm golden. i'm the ****in guy. so i do it. no questions asked. if it were off base, we would be screwed, but we pick our victim. i keep on doing it and i keep on getting promoted in the mean time. i'm the fastest promoted soldier in the process. barely anyone makes sargeant in 2 years and i made it. during peace time. and you know what i learn in the process? you are only as good as you can make yourself out to be. do what ever you want to do, just don't get caught. pj tucker, got caught. for stupid shit. drinking. could have been smarter, but eventually he broughti it upon himself. so deal with it bro.

lol this *******, everyone drinnk drives, cops, high end lawyers, engineers, to simplify things, basically white collar workers that earn a good salary (as a result of education which coincides with moral development), ALL DRINK DRIVE and the reason we do is because we aren't stuck on the second level of Kohlberg's theory of moral development. We develop further and start thinking for ourselves and compare our actions to the greater scheme of things and we completely separate our definitions of good and bad from the law. LOL @ the brainwashing the government has instilled in us. We are bombing the **** out of innocent civilians on the daily and they expect us to feel bad for driving after a few beers? If you can barely walk then yeah ur probably an idiot for driving, but intelligent people can be fairly hammered and drive just fine because we have the ability to focus no matter what conditions we are under.

Agreeed with some of the beginning but this is the most asinine statement ever lol. Some of my smartest friends UPenn, Princeton, NYU to Harvard law grads i wouldnt let touch a car "fairly Hammered" a couple beers sure whatever. But fairly hammered. Just STUPID, have some regard for others on the road.

DUI's are one of my specialties.

It's IDIOTIC to drive with any alcohol in your system. Why risk it?

If you "think" you are OK to drive you aren't OK. I enjoy drinking. When I go out, if I have to DD, i don't have any. The first thing a cop will ask you if you get pulled over on a thursday, friday, or saturday night is "How much have you had to drink?" And when you are driving during that time you will get pulled over for the stupidest reasons. Broken license plate light. Taking a turn too wide. Going 5 MPH over. You can get a DUI for blowing under the limit too.

Way too risky to even just have one or two if you ask me.

****ing brain washed society

Level 6 of Kohlberg's theory of moral development -- universal principles based on internalized principles of justice

Example -- hey I've had 4 beers. I could probably drive and get home just fine. Maybe I'd even blow under the legal limit so the law wouldn't even be a problem. But you know what, there is a 24 year old new mother on the road with her infant somewhere. There is a family of 5 coming back from vacation. Science, not the government, tells me that each drink corresponds to a certain degree of impairment. How can I possibly justify getting behind the wheel when I know that by definition I have a greater chance of making a mistake that could end someone else's life?

Your post is idiotic and it's even worse because you resort to passing ludicrous judgment on my character -- that I am "brainwashed". You are rationalizing your own bad decisions on an internet message board. Your brain could use some washing.

Mrofir
07-29-2014, 05:35 PM
I should add, I'm not some square -- I understand there are gray areas and it can be tempting to drive home after a few beers. And my original post acknowledged the gray areas.

But to get in a car when you're almost tripling the legal limit, again that clearly shows a lack of responsibility, and it's just plain immoral. If everyone in society behaved that way our roads would be apocalyptical.

And I'm a Suns fan.

What is idiotic and amazes me is how people still expect every person who drinks to make rational and responsible descions!!! Lol. I mean it is alcohol for a reason and it is evil. Seatbelts are required in all cars, so should alcohol monitoring devices. It could be solved technically like that real quick.

Honestly it's not that hard -- you make the decision beforehand to have a dd. That person will not let you drive at the end of the night. Or you decide beforehand to call a cab. Making the decision while sober solves the problem.

THIS. Alcohol is just bad. There's nothing positive about it. It's for people who don't know how to enjoy life and have fun sober. I used to be a bit of an alcoholic myself and if I could go back in time and change things about myself, drinking would be the #1 thing.

well it's never safe to drive impaired.

but weed is illegal in most states. If it were legalized i'm sure many people would prefer to use weed than alcohol.

All that can go out the window when you drink. It's not rocket science. Alcohol impairs the part of your brain involved in judgement. Come on guys what's Einsteins definition of insanity? It wouldn't bother me tremendously to have that in a vehicle, but it is already a requirement for those who have DUI problems.

It's a slippery slope anytime you use the word "monitoring device" -- I think the MO in America is to educate and trust the public, and when people break the law, then it is appropriate for the hand of government to intervene.

By slippery slope, I mean -- texting and driving has been shown to be roughly as dangerous as drinking and driving. Should we come up with some sort of monitoring device for that? What about tired driving? Should we test for the presence of certain hormones that indicate wakefulness? Should cars automatically shut off after they've been driven a certain number of hours? Should the speed of a car be automatically capped at 75mph? Should the volume of car stereo systems be electronically limited so the driver can always hear relevant road noises? You get the idea.

I'd be happy to push for a quicker installation of alcohol monitoring devices for those who get a DUI and harsher penalties with regards to losing driving privileges.
