Great player, great man. :applause:

[QUOTE]One of Philadelphia's sports greats, basketball legend Charles Barkley, said over the weekend that he will offer to pay for the funerals of three children killed in the North Philadelphia carjacking carnage, city District Attorney Seth Williams said Monday.

"Like most Philadelphians, many Americans, and people across the world that heard about this and were moved, he wanted me to know that he wanted to pay for the funeral for these three children, and I put him in touch with the family so he can do that," Williams said as he finished his remarks at a press conference announcing charges against two suspects.

Williams said he has told the family of the three young victims

I have first hand knowledge that barkley is one of the most generous athletes to ever exist. I had a coworker who barkley paid for his college education. Every semester he just contacted barkley's agent and next thing you know his account balance was zero.

All my coworker did was just wait on him as is his job, charles started asking about him and his future goals and my coworker told him. After maybe 20 minutes of talking barkley said he would pay for his college tuition.

It's been said that Charles does sit like this all the time he just doesn't publicize it.

He remembers where he came from.

I feel like I read about him giving a beggar in Barcelona 12 thousand dollars.

Yeah I remember reading an article where it mentioned how he always gives money to beggars. I heard he once gave $25,000 to a waitress.

what barkely does is amazing. But if someone needs to check out what Stephon Marbury did after 9/11 . Awesome gesture by him . And it got no publicity.

Charles is one of the nicer famous pro athletes. That's the low down I got from a friend who used to be a Hooters girl in the Phoenix area.

no pun intended

On the other hand Jordan's reaction to Barkley giving money to beggars:

*slaps Barkley's hand*

MJ: "if they can ask you for change then they can ask people, 'welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order.' "
