Reports out of Las Vegas say Pistons third-year center Andre Drummond should make the USA FIBA World Cup team as a second-team backup to starters Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins.

Davis (New Orleans) is projected as the starter at power forward, Cousins (Sacramento) the starter at center.

I would be surprised if they played 2 of those guys together against any other team outside of Spain.

I would have thought that Davis at anchor with Durant and George at the forward spots, harden at the 2-guard and then curry or whoever will be starting at PG...

Durant is more than capable at PF in the international game,

But good news about Dre,

Davis is a very mobile PF. He was a point guard in HS until his sophmore year, I think?

His game would be great for international play at the bigs position. Let the inside dominance begin for the USA again.

ZMonkey is right. Davis is perfect for the international game and is suited to play PF. He can knock down an outside shot when needed, guard the perimeter and interior, make passes, dribble, everything.... He won't just be good in FIBA. He's a beast in the league and will be the games best PF in a few years.

With that said Drummond should make the team now. They need a big guy. I can see where Cousins should start. Cousins can knock down a 3 too. He's the better of the two right now. But with all the people who withdrew the team does need a big and Drummond makes sense. He can lock down the middle, rebound, and he can be some fouls in the middle.

Cousins cannot hit 3s

Cousins cannot hit 3s

Just because the offense he's in he rarely shoots them doesn't mean he can't. He has a nice touch on his shot, especially for a big man. He shoots a good FG %, and he's good from the free throw line too. Maybe you haven't watched the Kings much? Sure he only takes a handful of 3's during the regular season but have you watched him actually shoot? He shoots pretty good from deep.

Not sure about his touch from deep, but Cousins is pretty efficient with the mid game as far as big guys go

I guess we will know a lot more after todays game

He has a very nice midrange game. If he could shoot the 3 effectively, he would more. Its a very valuable shot. He went 0/7 last year.
