Looks like he jumped/landed and all his momentum was on his right foot/leg.

his foot was pinned next to the base of the stanchion/basket support....and rather turn his ankle ( since his foot was pinned) it snapped his tibia.

I think the toughest part is psychological. Would be hard for him to get up, play as hard and as aggressively as before.
