View Full Version : Life... A bitter sweet blessing

Just sitting here with the fam, crushing glass after glass of vino. Learned some disheartening news this morning that a childhood friend of mine had passed. Only 30 years of age with 2 young kids to his name. Anyone who regularly associates with me around here knows that I often don't air out my personal shit to the board but my heart is so heavy right now, I can't contain myself.
As unfortunate as these incidents are, they really have a peculiar way of forcing you to look at life in a different light.
Life is fragile. Grab it by the balls and embrace the beauty of it.

I'm sorry for your lose, brother. Keep your head up, this brought a different perspective to your life already, which is a good thing and will change your life for the better, trust me. I had a close friend pass away about a year ago, and the way it brought together my group of friends was amazing.
As unfortunate as it is, death does have a peculiar way of bringing people together. I appreciate the kind words of wisdom my brother.
Unlimited respect...

Disgusting.
Divulging anything on the Web (regardless of the sensitive nature) comes with the risk of receiving such a backlash. I can take a humorous punch with the best of them. But for f*uck sakes man.

That's pretty messed up, D&D. That feeling of losing someone extra close is brutal.
Thanks big Moe. The guy was huge piece to my childhood. My mind keeps tracing back to the past when our lives were so semistic and free of the demons that stood before. The poor guy was in a dark place before be passed. It's somewhat relieving knowing that he's no longer at a struggle, despite losing his life.

Gotta get used to it because most of life is one long travail of losing people close to you, unless you yourself go early that is.
I do find it amusing though how people are only capable of rationalising the deaths of loved ones through how it makes THEM feel: 'MY best bud died; it made ME really sad at first; but then it really helped to change MY outlook on life and teach ME not to take MY friends for granted; it helped bring ME and all MY other friends together as now WE all understand the sanctity and fragility of life and so WE are better able to appreciate each other and life itself; thus in the end, the death of our bud changed all OUR lives for the better, so keep ya head up brudda, things will improoove!'

@Dresta: i had a childhood friend who died racing another car while it was raining. His girlfriend (a friend of mine) was with him and her face got smashed and lets say she never came back to be the same.
All that taught me was to not be a dumbass and think of the consequences.

I never lost a childhood friend but I know how deep the connection is. I got one I have known since I was 6, we used to be like brothers, always had each other's back and grew up together. I moved to America when I was 15 and haven't since him for 8+ years, but I know when I go back and visit him our bond will still be just as strong as it was the day I left. Friendships like those just stick with you.
I am sorry you lost a childhood friend, but I hope there are other loved ones in your life that can ease that pain.

fukm. But death does happen. Unfort, does not encourage many others to treat other people with respect... opposed to just ****ing the next man to get ahead.
That's what the key is, I think.

Well, tragedy IS easier to deal with when you can blame it on something. When I was a late teenager my best friend ( who was younger) had a srs brain injury on a kick off return... in HS. He lived, everyone was excited that he was "the same", but since I knew him well... he wasn't. I'd be like yo remember that... and he'd be like ".... nah." Then we basically just drifted away. Can't really say what you said about that, altho maybe I am more in tune with the fact that football can ****ya.
