Kung pow = overrated.
I mess with prawn and garlic sauce. Always get the calamari. Some egg rolls off course. And tee.

Steamed pork/veggie dumplings and wonton soup are #1a and #1b.
Prawns in chili sauce, Szechuan-style are fantastic as well.

Well it used to be Lemon Fish, but as the years went by the one hole in the wall place that sold it stopped. There was a Quik Wok fast food place that did it though so I wonder if they still have it.
Nowadays it's Sweet N Sour Chicken with flied lice, hot n sour soup, and egg roll

I'm really into Japanese food. I can eat shredded beef and bean sprouts all day.
Sichuan cooking is good. I like hot pot, especially the sichuan/cq style.

Y'all should try Szechuan and/or Hunan cuisine.
Most Americanized Chinese restaurants are to us what Taco Bell is to Mexicans, and even then it's only a basterdized version of Northern Chinese cuisine, flavorless garbage like plain dumplings or soup dumplings and dim sum-esque stuff that I would never eat.
Except Kungpao chicken is a very very awful version of a chicken dish from Chongqing(a city near Szechuan).
a lot of authentic chinese is very acquired taste, i know many Americans would hate a lot of those dishes altho some would maybe like them. there is a place near me that gets rave reviews for its authentic chinese which has a separate menu, its very expensive like double the price of their regular menu, and i've tried a few items. i can't remember the name of one dish but i took a few bites and threw it away, it was almost a $20~ dish too. there was one with 'crispy rice sprinkles' or something like that on top of pork belly, it was terrible too. i mean the pork belly was good but the rice sprinkles was awful, i was thinking it'd be like rice crispies texture but something new i never had but it almost tasted like hardened rice kernels :wtf: .....altho their szechuan pork belly is amazing, like melts in your mouth amazing.
they have some really exotic shit like fried jellyfish, watermelon with scallops and whatever in it where you have to call in days ahead to get that, and its ohnly seasonal....but the chef dude gets really hyped by locals and its a small hole in the wall joint. either way i don't think most people here would like authentic chinese much.

this thread should be extended to include all "Asian" dishes instead of just Chinese. Would be more fun.
Here's something that I think originated from Vietnam but is popular in all asian countries and I love it. Vietnamese call this "Pho", rice noodle soup and anybody who eats this regularly knows what Im talkin about. The soup or broth, when made to perfection is mMmmmm..........

I dont like the above noodle though I prefer it more thicker like this one here

Orange Chicken, considering the fact that the only place I ever go for Chinese in Panda Express.
panda has some of the crispiest orange chicken i've ever had, and their firecracker stuff is great...and great value. like thier chow mein too.
but damn they put something in there that always hurts me unlike any other chinese joint.

And you have to go to restaurants that specialize in Szechuan cuisine since they usually know spices better than others.

Dimsum, in particular, Shao Mai and Pork Spare-ribs in Black-Bean sauce. When correctly, these two are the BOMB, but I there are times where it's done incorrectly and it makes me want to hurl.
Oh and Douhua AKA the bean curd in sweet syrup.
