Was it defense? Monta didn't wanna share the spotlight?
Those two guys are the perfect compliment on offense, imo. Two all-star caliber guards who are both young, and exciting to watch.
I mean at the end, I am glad Monta is a Mav, and the Warriors are just fine w/ Klay.. but on paper they look awesome and would've been fun to watch.. why didnt it work out?

Carlisle wasn't coaching them. And Dirk wasn't there as a veteran/champion/respected presence.

Both guys play best with the ball in their hands IMO, and neither is a plus defender. Iggy is a better fit, because he can play point on O when you need him too, but is fine playing off-ball. Also arguably the best perimeter defender in the league.
Ellis is in a great situation with Dirk now though. They complement each other very well from what I've seen.

They worked out fine those teams had no bigs and played no D. Both those guys are best with the ball in hand. Made sense to get rid of one of them.

-Q: Can you see yourself playing with Curry in the backcourt?
-ELLIS: I can’t answer that. Us together? No.
-Q: Why not?
-ELLIS: Can’t. We just can’t.
-Q: Too small? Too similar?
-ELLIS: Just can’t.
-Q: The Warriors say you can.
-ELLIS: They say we can? Yeah. If they say it. But we can’t.
-Q: You wouldn’t want to give it a shot?
-ELLIS: I just want to win. That’s… not going to win that way.
-Q: Why not?
-ELLIS: It’s different when you’re trying to compare me and Stephen, when you’re trying to go back to when me and BD were playing, it’s a different situation.
Damn. That's one articulate nikka.

Cus Monta didn't respect Curry then...also Monta was still immature, the wilderness year stuck in Bucks has made him better!

I think playing with Jennings scared him straight. All the sudden he was like :facepalm "this is how it must feel like playing with me" and he changed up his game.

with both of them having the ability to cut/slash and there's only one basketball.
one of them was going to eventually learn how to post up.
I just don't know if you want two players looking at each other thinking
