We've seen it for a few seasons now. Two overwhelmingly talented young ballers and their incompetent coach, trying to make it work.
We all know how great Durant and Russ are, but does anyone still believe they complement each other as players?
Russ needs guys around him who can space the floor/ enforce a real offensive structure. He needs kyle Korvers and Marc Gasols imo. His talent and energy are an asset to any team, but his downside has always been evident.
Durant needs a coach who can implement an offense and a point guard who is interested in actually running it. His big weakness is known. He's not strong or tough so you can deny him the ball. Once the ball is comfortably in his hands its pretty much game over. I'm sure you could think of many coaches and point guards that would be better suited to feeding Durant the ball in tasty areas.
Not saying OKC isn't a great team. They just seem to be LESS than the sum of their parts.
