Hello ISH. So here's the story. I went to the same highschool as dwyane wade, richards high school in oak lawn. i respect dwyane wade alot, he has given alot to our school, even a private concert by kanye west in the auditorium. But i would like to share a pretty bitter story about his older brother. in 2006 after/before? winning the championship, i was in the auditorium for inter-mural tryouts for the basketball team. Before this i had played in jr high school basketball and junior varsity ball. I was trying out for varsity. Dwyane wades older brother was there and he was going to become one of the coaches for the team. this was going to be his first year and he didnt know who was on the teams prior. So i was their working out did all the typical basketball stuff. Then we separated in groups to do individual practice with each coach, i was in the group with dwyane wades brother. We started to do offensive schemes. I was confused in what he was trying to explain to us on how the offensive scheme should work. so everytime we ran it i would mess up. I messed up a few times, and dwyane wades brother looked at me and said "DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH" in your typical ignorant angry black man voice. i assume he said that because im asian. Then he told me to get to the back of the line. After this i was like **** it i dont want to play for this ******. I didnt show up for the next intramural. 2 weeks later after the tryouts were over, i saw the head coach in the hallway and he asked me how come i didnt show up for tryouts and i just told him i didnt want to play basketball anymore (even though i did.) he said if i changed my mind then come talk to him. after a year Dwayne wades brother was no longer a coach for the team, i wonder why.

So thats the story of how dwyane wades brother/ racism destroyed my varsity basketball dreams, and the potential to be what jeremy lin was.

If it makes you feel any better, you probably don't have a tenth of Lin's talent plus Lin almost undoubtedly ran his drills correctly in high school. Also he wouldn't have given up because he was yelled at once. So, take heart, your career was never going to amount to anything special.

I grew up on the far southside. Southside love represent!!! Grew up around 105th and Halsted. Believe me bro you have some good brothers in the hood. I consider myself one of them. I got out went to college, played B1G football. Me and my boys from the hood I am still close with till this very day. And most (if not all) of them would never have judged you in such a way. But there are some ignorant brother's too... just like everywhere and with every race. I wouldn't hold on to it bro. Time to let it go.

If you gave up because a coach shouted at you, then there was no chance in hell you'd make the NBA.

You didn't quit basketball because he was racist, you quit because you can't do drills correctly

And you wanna talk about racism? You quit playing ball because a coach got mad at you for making mistakes? You wouldn't have made it, regardless of how good you are

Yea, I peeped that too but decided to give him a pass. I have seen Nathan post on here for a while and he has never come across that way before so I figured he just made a mistake there.

You quit because you lacked the drive, determination, heart and passion of anyone who is successful. Life is full of shit like this, but if everyone quit after something unfair happened, the world would be full of ******* like you still rubbing wood together to make the night fire.

You can't follow instructions at the highschool level and mess up each time, I would be wondering if you speak English too regardless of your ethnicity. If one coach yelling at you made you not want to play you are just a weak willed individual who would never shine in a competitive scene. Sorry, it just wasn't for you.

BINGO repped OP is a camel toe ...

His heart was being tested, and Wade's brother proved you lacked one or intestinal fortitude. When I got cut freshman year because of my height (hadn't gone through spurt yet) I worked every single day to prove the coaches wrong that no matter my size I was more skilled than ANYONE on the damn team. Warriors thrive of telling superiors "F U C K YOU ... Look at me now"

Seems more in ignorance than intentionally malicious racism.

WTF. You should've still kept going. That's on you.

That shit happens all the time in life. People yell at you because of a misunderstanding, because they're having a bad day, or because its a power trip. You can't let that affect you and what you want to do.
