Evidently, since Finland is playing at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Drew Gooden finally decided to play for them for the first time ever after all these years.

What connection does he have with Finland? I had no idea...

His mom is Finnish. He should have played for them before, but he just never did it. Now since they are in the world cup he finally I guess decided he should represent them once before he gets too old, since it is a big event and a big deal for them.

Good for them, they could use some size.

Drew Gooden hasn't been great in the first part of his career.

But remember...it's not how you start, it's how you Finnish....

I remember when this was brought up for the first time in 2007, he wasn't eligible since he had played for the junior USA basketball team.

There are so many Americans even without any connections are playing for different national teams. A lot of them are not even NBA players but still superior players compare to most.
It reminded me of Nigeria full of Americans led by Diogu and Aminu. They just put a team together and they ended the million dreams of Greece hoops.:oldlol: When someone asked Aminu if he has been to Nigeria, he just flat out said No.
