The Heat should win 50 or more games if healthy. And Bosh should be about 7th in MVP voting.

He wont be the 7th best player. But they are very different things.

Really? Come on man, you are one of the most knowledgeable basketball fans on here. The Heat were 11-14 WITH Lebron during the last 25 games of last season. They have lost their best scorer, rebounder, and playmaker, and have done NOTHING to address their many weaknesses ie point guard play and rebounding. :biggums:
How in the hell is this team going to win 50 or more games? Even if they are healthy Wade is not what he used to be, and Bosh is clearly declining.

That's the big question. He hasn't battled for rebounds or posted up in about 4yrs. Now all of a sudden he's going to back to doing that?

I'll believe when I see it.

I actually believe Heat are the heavy favourites

They replaced their all star SF with TWO (Granger and Deng) and got McRoberts for rebounds

Anything less than a championship should be a huge dissapointment

If the Heat win 50 games, it's because Wade had a renaissance season(being relatively healthy), with him going back to a higher usage player, and being the primary ball handler again(no longer having to subjugate his game to LeBron)

Not because Bosh puts up higher volume numbers.

Bosh has to up his game as well, as he'll have to justify that contract, but if Wade isn't great next year, it won't matter.

SouBeachTalents
08-07-2014, 05:51 PM
In 11 seasons Bosh has finished in the top 10 in MVP voting ONCE in his career, when he came in 7th in '07, and received one total MVP vote in the other 10. Now past the age of 30 he's gonna finish THIRD? :facepalm

People simply bought into the media hype during the summer of 2010 when he was being called a "superstar" on LeBron & Wade's level, there's no other explanation for the mythologizing that Bosh has received since signing with Miami

08-07-2014, 05:53 PM
Thing is...

KD and LeBron are locks for top 3, unless something catastrophic happens. So you're basically saying Bosh will beat everybody else in the league. That's your call, but unless you're having a transcendent individual season, your team needs to post a crazy good record.

If the Heat do that, which I'm sure they could, Wade is probably gonna be a big part of that. So you'd think he and Bosh would be splitting votes, making a top 3 finish difficult.

Agreed, and I do think Wade will have renaissance season to a degree. Not prime-like play of course, but very good nonetheless. It seems like everyone has buried him and a resurgance feels inevitable.

It doesnt take much to be a 50 win team in the east. Especially when the cavs merely replaced the Pacers as a good team instead of adding to the list.

They won close to the minimum possible with their roster last year and had people missing games because they didnt care about the regular season. They have no reason to think they dont have to go all out this year.

The Heat winning 52 games wouldnt even raise an eyebrow from me.

PJR
08-07-2014, 06:20 PM
This team kind of feels like the 2001 Heat team to me. The team that was gearing up for a title run in the East, but lost Zo with the kidney disease, but still had a more than respectable veteran core.

And Wade, Bosh, Deng is much better than Eddie Jones, Mason, and Brian Grant.

It's gonna be a fun team to watch, if health permits. Would be lucky to win a playoff round, but still fun to watch nonetheless.

Roundball_Rock
08-07-2014, 06:40 PM
There is no way he finishes that high. As people have noted, LeBron and Durant are locks to finish in the top 3. Then you have other players who have the potential to receive heavy MVP consideration: Rose, Paul or Griffin for the LAC, Howard, Curry, Aldrige.

KBlaze is right. Bosh will likely be around 7th--if the Heat can get to 50 wins. If they win 45 he will be outside the top 10 or not receive any MVP vote. The Heat have the potential to win 50 games--but I expect them to be around 45. They did get an all-star SF to replace LeBron but the tide of history is against them. Only once has a contending team lost a GOAT-caliber player and remained a contender the following year. I don't expect the Heat to be the second. Players like Havelicek, Gail Goodrich/old Jerry West (West still put up 20/4/7), McHale, Worthy, Penny, and Kobe could not keep their teams afloat the next season. I don't see Bosh being able to do it if these other players could not.

Chris Paul puts up >2ppg in 4th quarters though. Besides, Chris Paul's MVP candidate year was when he put up 21-12 and dragged his Hornets to 56 wins. James cost his team the title.

The Heat have been playing with significant injuries to their starting 5 since the start of the season. Of course that's going to have an effect on their overall record. And Bosh' condition may have been diagnosed after the All- Star break but who knows how long it may have affected his in- game play before that?

:oldlol: In all honesty though anyone who really watched the Heat last season should have known they would suck this year. You can't lose your leading scorer, rebounder, and playmaker and expect it to have no real impact on your win/loss total. I think deep down even most Heat fans knew the team would be bad, but they denied it because they wanted so badly to prove that Wade and Bosh weren't getting carried by Lebron the last few seasons. They can cry about injuries all they want, but fact is their injury situation this year doesn't even compare to teams like the Bucks and Pacers. :sleeping
