Are you guys shitting me? How are you supposed to know if someone has responded to you if you don't get an automatic update when someone posts in a thread that you've posted in? Isn't subscribing to threads you post in the default action everyone's ISH account is set for?

Okay guys, I seem to have found what this guy is jabbering about.

If you go in your User CP, then click on Edit Options, there is a peculiar option I've never noticed:

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-zw9OIaCP1HU/U-RPL0JnFSI/AAAAAAAAq6g/BT397O1nTwg/w980-h660-no/Untitled.png

Clearly, the default option is "Do not subscribe" but CavFTW seems to have set his to some other un-godly option.

The end.

No I disabled email notification, I get notifications if anyone has posted in any thread I've subscribed to (any thread I've ever posted in) every time I click my "User CP" button. I'll never miss a bump for example, even if I'm gone for a week and it gets pushed off the first page, I'll see that there was activity in a thread that I've posted in so long as I didn't manually unsubscribe from it. The default is to subscribe. I can't be the only poster who's account is set up this way

I swear I never touched that though, at least not that I recall :wtf:

*EDIT* Mine is set to "no email notification" by the way. Meaning I won't get emailed. But subscriptions do happen and I can check them when I check my "User CP"

but how do you keep track, and what if someone bumps a thread you posted in say, 2 days ago and by the time you log back on it's at the bottom or off the first page already? Seems like it would be so much work to keep track of all that stuff. I like never missing a well timed bump too.

Oh I lose track on tons of threads. I probably have trolls ranting and people asking questions that I never even saw.

You now what, I've seen the option when I'm posting from my Iphone. I wasn't sure what it did.

Makes sense. I would usually just chill and if I see a thread I posted in gets bumped, I'll go to last page and see whats up.

This is obviously a lot easier and efficient. In addition, over the last damn near 10 years that I've been on ISH, I can say some threads made me laugh my ass off. And I will never be able to find it and reread it. Having this will help.

(Thinking of threads..)

Anybody remember that thread where this guy said he went to a chicks house and dropped a deuce in her bathroom and the toilet flooded? And he even kept the story going with drawings to illustrate what was happening IIRC.

Another thread, was about tipping. So funny when a poster says he doesn't tip pizza delivery guy.
Poster 2 responds with "they'll spit in your pizza"
Poster 1 responds "no because I am carefully watching him as he hands me the pizza"

And this was funny because WTF? Stupid ass poster wasn't understanding what poster #2 was saying. Haha. Reading the thread is funnier.

I still don't know how to subscribe after reading this thread
Click on thread tools > Subscribe thread. Thread tools is on the top right corner of the thread, right under the page number and next to the rate thread button.

I have automatic subscription to each new thread I post in, with instant email notification of new posts.

I am subscribed to 1633 threads
I have 7730 posts

Ratio is 4.7 posts per subscribed thread.

It was just a bunch of randos talking about random crap. No real central theme, just a bunch of categories to post about.

Died due to database corruption and my webhost not keeping good backups. :(

Did it ever get any real traction? And is vBulletin a life license or you gotta pay yearly?

Version 3 (ISH is on 3, which came out in like, 2007 :oldlol: ) it was a lifetime license to buy. Version 4+ you pay yearly. Obviously, this is one of the reasons Jeff won't upgrade.

Never got big... certainly not this big. I didn't have ads, but for April Fool's day one year I put all kinds of crazy ads and I made $5 in one day :lol

At that point it is just as easy to look for a thread that you are not subscribed to.

I'm subscribed to 0. I just don't care that much about threads that drift out of memory.
