Agreed, OP

The wolves should definitely be giving more than just KLove for Wiggins/Bennett/first round

And the league doesn't own the T-wolves or Cavs

no pun intended

However you want to slice that veto'd trade of Chris Paul to the Lakers, it's bullshit and it set the franchise back considerably.

No need to dwell on the past though.

Kevin Love has to have a strangle hold on the Wolves. My bet is that he is not willing to go anywhere but the Cavs since he's so "thirsty". Let's see if he can get it done. This season will be awesome. It will be hype seeing the Bulls, Heat, and Cavs battle it out in the East. Emotions will run high in the play offs.

Except there is no guarantee Paul would have even resigned with the Lakers after that first year. :confusedshrug:
Gasol is basically the only star player that has gotten along with Kobe, and that is only because Pau is submissive. Chris Paul would never bow down to Kobe, which is why I personally don't believe they would have worked.

Cavs straight gutted their roster for Love

The last 2 #1 picks in the draft plus another first rounder for someone who never even sniffed the playoffs??!

Imagine a team giving away Anthony Davis, kyrie Irving, and another #1 pick for Chris Bosh :facepalm

Trust me Cleveland got raped

It wasn't right what the league did. The Lakers would still be contenders right now and continue their excellence. Everyone wants to bash the Lakers FO about this free agency period and how they didn't sign anyone, but the veto of this trade really pushed them back.Who knows how history is changed of this went through. Such a shame, and I'm not even a Lakers fan.

No way Dwight leaves if they have CP3. Add Chris Paul to the mix, that's one of the best possible big 3's you can have in the league. No way CP3 leaves the Lakers no better situation for him better than that one.

Still no one is right in this discussion it's all hypothetical.

Dear god where is the dumbest things ever said on ISH thread? Who's Anthony Davis in this trade Bennett? Wiggins best case senerio is he ends up producing like Kyrie. Low first round picks like the one going to the wolves in this trade do not produce players like Kyrie or Anthony Davis. The rest of the league should be grateful we didn't win the Anthony Davis lotto. If we had there would be nothing on earth that could have gotten the cavs to trade him or Kyrie.

Gutted their roster? 1 guy who wasn't on the team last year and another that wouldn't have been on the team if it wasn't for his 1st overall pick status.

Kevin love is a legit superstar. Only a handful of teams would pass on him because they already have very good power forwards. Assuming love resigns with the cavs after the first year it's a fair deal. If for whatever reason he walks then everyone can say how the cavs got raped

Technically, the trade was gonna be Gasol to the Rockets and Odom, Scola, Kevin Martin and Dragic to the Hornets.

Flash31
08-08-2014, 08:29 AM
well one the NBA owned the Hornets and were trying to sell them so
they were going for flexibility and cap space which they got and well no coincidence really that NO got Num 1 Pick as well in the draft.

But even if the NBA didnt own NOH,
That would still be a horrible deal for the Best PG and consensus Top 5 player at the time.

In comparisons between CP3 and Love

CP3 plays Defense
CP3 has been to the playoffs
CP3 had a trade with LA which is known for lopsided deals
Love has a trade with Min which is known for lopsided deals FOR the other team/s
CP3 is known as a great teammate,Love is NOT

Also,Min gets the NUM 1 Pick same as NOH did with trade

now its still lopsided for Cle but nowhere near as it was for LA due to
CP3>KL but the league doesnt own Min so gms are allowed to go through with stupid trades

Cavs way way overpaid. Huge difference between a guy like CP3 and someone like Love. For what the Cavs sent out they should be getting an Anthony Davis level guy coming back.

why do people not grasp the fact the the collective owners in the league didn't want to giftwrap the lakers yet another superstar?

The league didn't own the cavs or the wolves during the pendency of this trade.

First of all Wiggins ceiling is WAY higher than Irving's ever will be and it's also way higher than Love's. Kevin Love is no where near worth the best Wing prospect since Kevin Durant, another #1 overall pick and an extra first rounder. I'm sorry but the Cavs completely overpaid for Love. Idk how they gutted the roster like that guy is saying, for the reasons you already said but it doesn't change the fact that they have up way too much for a big that isn't going to solve any of their problems (Defense, shot blocking and interior athleticism).

Also mentioning Anthony Davis doesn't make any sense about 8 other teams can make the same argument. If we want to talk about dramatic changes in the league, imagine if the Nets had gotten Anthony Davis instead of sending their pick to Portland to draft Lillard.

Bennett + Wiggins is the best trade package for any of the deals we've seen for Melo, CP3, Dwight, Deron. Getting the #1 picks from back to back drafts and a 1st is incredible. Sota did amazing. They can lock up Wiggins for like 8 years w/ RFA.

HurricaneKid
08-08-2014, 11:05 AM
I can't believe Laker-stans are still on this. Odom was done, Pau was making 19M/ and was essentially done, and Scola was amnestied a few days later. Its literally a NEGATIVE VALUE package.

The Lakers were going to SAVE $40M AND get a top 5-8 player in the NBA. The GM that negotiated that should have been fired on the spot. Allowing an auction for the GM for a day would have provided a better deal.
