View Full Version : ISH Hall of Fame Project: We Need a Committee

Have an idea for a different spin on all the Top whatever projects.

I want to re-do the Hall of Fame

Here's my idea for the fastest and funnest way to do so.

I) First we need to construct a committee that will begin the process and decide on which people are added to or removed from the committee as time goes on.

II) We vote on players based on the group of players they retired with using five year increments starting with 1960. So all players who retired before 1960 will be eligible for the first round of voting. I've constructed base lists which include all the players already in the hall (as players only, not coach or contributors) and players who commonly are considered the most glaring omissions.

III) Before each vote we will allow some time for additional players to be nominated. Each member of the committee will copy and paste the entire list of candidates and bold as many players as they believe should be voted in. (Up to ten per class)

IV) The top ten vote getters from each Class will be added (as long as they got over 60% of the total votes) and additionally any other players who get at least 90% of the total vote.

V) Any player receiving at least two votes will be added to the next Class of players and is still eligible for selection. Players who recieve one or zero votes will be eliminated from the first round of voting.

VI) After completing the first round of voting through 2010, we will do one more round with all remaining players and add any player who receives at least 75% of the total votes in each class.

VII) We will divide inductees into four categories.

A - Unanimous inductees - Players who got 100% of the votes on their first try

B - First Ballot inductees - Players who made it on on the first try but without 100% of the votes.

C - All other players inducted in the first round of voting

D - Honorable Mention - Players inducted in the second round of voting

So that's my basic idea. I'm open to suggestions for improvements but mainly I want to start putting together a committee. I have a lot of people in mind, but volunteer basis only for now.

At first, I will allow anyone who wants to be in in and take you off ignore if you are on that list.

I would ask everyone who is involved with the project not to have anyone on the committee on ignore.

If you have an obvious agenda or are trolling or just not adding anything positive, you can be voted out by other members of the committee. Anyone who has a problem with anyone else involved should PM me.

The committee will be listed above.

Remember too we will be starting with the class of 1960, so a lot of you might not want to participate until we get into the 1980's or 1990's when you are more familiar with more players. But that is totally up to each individual.

Please include your age (just the decade; examples: 20's or 40's or teens) and the team you follow. I want diversity for the project if possible.

I'll do my best on the earlier players. Will have to seek out some extra opinions for some of them though I can imagine.

you have a large red bar, not that it means anything for sure, but you made a lot of people take the time to give you that bar. Are you sure you're going to try and help not hurt the project?

I will not hurt your project. People don't like my political opinions over on off the court lounge.

The first voting thread is up, still looking for more people to join our project.

Should be fun and allow you to share and discover a lot of knowledge. Would be really great to have some of the more veteran and respected members of the community on board. I'd like to make this a project that really represents the community here.

I think this project will go much further if you can get the mods to sticky the active thread. This thread was on page 5.

What's the commitment looking like? As in, what are we looking at for length of time for voting?
I'd like to join up, but I'm not on every day (just most days) and in a week or two my life is about to get absolutely insane, where every other day is expected/reasonable.

But if that's acceptable, then 20's (30's if the project spans enough months). Bulls/Lakers fan, then fan of every team.

you'll be a good fit, I'm thinking minimum 72 hours for each round of voting. Enough time for reasonable discussion and to allow each person time to access the site around their schedule.
