2001 Kobe:

regular season- 28.5 5.9 5.0
playoffs- 29.4 7.3 6.1
Also played legit 1st team All defense
Lakers went 15-1 in the playoffs
He was only 22 years old. I know Shaq was on the team but even MJ said Kobe was better than him at the same age. Kobe was actually on a career trajectory to surpass Jordan after the 2000-2001 season. How many people really thought
or feared(haters) that Kobe would surpass Jordan as GOAT after the 2000-2001 season?

Ever since he got that sidekick ring in 2000, and was branded a career 'sidekick', he was firmly locked out of the top 10

So to answer the question not many

I'm guessing few if any? He was great that season though, no argument there.

He went from a great 2000-2001 to a 2001-2002 Kobe that really had a nonexistent jumpshot (he couldn't hit a three consistently for his life that season... and I used to watch a lot of Lakers games). But in 2002-2003, he came in with a lethal 3. To me, he just seemed unpredictable at the time who had the potential to be a top 3 shooting guard ever. I never thought he would surpass Jordan, his early years were just too medicore especially his 2000 finals run with shaq. Yes, he had a few great playoff games but his fg% was just downright low for a future "GOAT." Same reason why LeBron will never be a future "GOAT," since he also had a few bad finals performances.
