An American that played in Spain in the early 80s, who was doing Julius Erving stuff before Erving himself.
Are people aware of Nate Davis?
He played for the University of South Carolina. Drafted 101 by the Chicago Bulls, the American forward averaged 30 points in the Spanish league in the early 80s, he was putting his ear next to the rim, he was doing backward dunks, elbow dunks, but played no defense whatsoever.
He only played 3 years here, after his wife died, he went back to the states where he's been working as a janitor. Because of these tragic events, he's not open about his time playing ball, making his family and work pals totally unaware of what Nate used to do and only finding out because the film crew of the documentary about him, approached them about it.
Besides his incredible dunks, he was known for putting 50 past the big teams (Real Madrid, Bilbao) and winning a game singlehandedly with one broken hand, without having played in the first half.
Nate was totally unaware of the legacy he left here, and recently, due to the filming of a documentary, he came back, and was surprised that everyone recognized him the streets.
It's pretty moving. Specially when he becomes aware of his legacy.
