It's unfair how certain players have the good fortune to play under GOAT coaches like Phil Jackson, Pop, Red etc. So let's take those off our GOAT list.

1) Lebron James
2) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
3) Larry Bird
4) Wilt Chamberlain
5) Hakeem Olajuwon

Kareem played for Pat Riley, just an FYI.

Wow great thread! :applause:

Yes I agree lebron should be #1

People are forgetting that Spo was a video coordinator without LeBron

On the other hand you have coaches like Pop who are the main reason for success and gets robbed of the FMVP every time

Lame attempt at trying somehow to put Bron Bron #1 on a GOAT list, why don't we just make a GOAT list of only players with the first name starting with the letter L and last name starting with a J?

Just so you know, Phil Jackson's prior coaching gig before landing the Bulls HC position after Doug Collins got canned was coaching the Albany Patroons. Obviously, nobody at that time had any idea how good of a coach PJax would become. This ignorant viewpoint by Bran stans that PJax was already a known NBA entity when he coached MJ is just

Now lets rank them only counting players who won rings with less than 2 all stars beside them.

Meh.

Of course you would say "meh" to Pat Riley since he's basically been coaching the Heat for the past 4 years. :lol

In all seriousness though, Spo is actually a really good coach in terms of scheme, philosophy, and game planning. He's just not (yet) a very good in-game coach IMO. That comes with experience.

Please explain how Riley is only meh?

Not really, only idiots who don't have any sense of context play up that phony 1-9 argument. Just don't tke into account the level of competition Jordan was facing, all by himself at that point. The Bulls started winning when Pip and Grant started contributing but dimwitted clowns like yourself can't understand that. At the same time, you Bron morons always complain LeBron needs more help and always underscore how he didn't have enough help in Cleveland. Isn't it weird how LeBron finally won a ring when he hooked up with a former FMVP and future HOFer, an All Star PF and a GOAT 3pt shooter and future HOFer.:confusedshrug:

Phil Jackson w/o 1a(Jordan) and 1b(Kobe) = ringless hobo
Spo w/o 267a (Lebron) = important staff member for a championship team (2006)

Jordan stans catching feelings over this while Kobetards just keep quiet because they have some sense.:oldlol:

Face it, without the GOAT coach Phil Jackson, prime Pippen, prime Rodman, prime Kukoc and (lol) prime Kerr, MJ would be ringless and EXCLUDED out of the top 10 list.

smh@ defering to god damn Steve Kerr to take the game winner.:facepalm

We will see how good he is this season, now that he longer has the league's best player. Has zero playoff series victories without Lebron, but 4 straight Finals trips with Lebron. Anything less than a trip to the ECF this year and Spo will be exposed as a complete and utter fraud.

LOL at this thread.

Those players you excluded are the reason why those coaches are considered GOAT coaches! If Lebron was so good, Mike Brown and Spo would be on the GOAT list too, but he's only 2/5. Wasn't Riley from the press box before Magic and Kareem made him a star coach?

All of these guys played for coaches who will end up in the hall of fame, Spoelstra may be the exception if he never coaches successfully again.

Wilt won his first title under Alex Hannum, a top ten coach all-time. Kareem won four with Riley, a top five all-time.
