He needs to put up great stats in the finals. If only Wade and Bosh play with their full potential in the 2014 NBA Finals. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yeah i hear that, he dosnt have a problem with putting up stats though. hes prolly top 3 GOAT if it came to only stats. Except for the 2011 choke though

Under that scenario:

1) KAJ/MJ
3) Wilt
4) Russell
5) LeBron
6) Shaq
7) Duncan
8) Bird
9) Magic
10) Kobe

He would have no case over the top 4 but he could legitimately be argued anywhere from 5th-8th depending on your criteria. Magic and Bird could no longer be put up above him. After next season LeBron will have played 12 seasons; Magic played 12 and Bird 13 so longevity does not work in their favor (one could still argue Shaq or Duncan over LeBron based on longevity).

5 MVP's would tie him with MJ and Russell for second most at age 30. He would have a great shot at breaking KAJ's record of 6.

3 rings at age 30 is comparable to what those other players had at 30, with the exception of Russell.

Well, if he plays up to his usual standarts and brings the leadership to WIN A TITLE, MVP and Finals MVP, he's surely past Bird/Magic... I'd have him 3rd behind the the untouchable MJ/Kareem combo.

Depends entirely on how well he plays (not in terms of stats, but how well he plays basketball).

Lebron's legacy is already tainted, his ceiling is top 8 player at best.

2011 finals and losing FMVP to a role player is too much to overcome.

Maybe only winning 6 rings in cleveland will push him higher.

2014 Finals sealed it for me as far as him not being a top 10 all-time player - so another regular season accolade would add little to his legacy.

Lebron only took 25.56% of his team's shots in the 2014 Finals - only 3 times in the last 24 years (since 1991) has the winning team's #1 option (team leader in shot attempts) taken this low a proportion of his teams shots.

Finals-Winning Teams Since 1991 Whose #1 Options Took a less than 25.56% of the Team's Shots:

3.) 2003 Spurs (Tim Duncan.. 24.38% of his team's shots)
2.) 2008 Celtics (Kevin Garnett.. 22.6%)
1.) 2014 Spurs (Tony Parker.. 20.1%.. smallest load since 1991 for a #1 option)

Every other year since 1991, the #1 option on the Finals-winning team took more than 25.56% of the team's shots - so the load Lebron took on in 2014 Finals (25.56% of his team's shots) was not a large load, which means that the notion that he couldn't have done more, or no one else would have done more, is wrong - 21 out of the last 24 did more.

You can see how well-rounded those teams must have been and how difficult it would have been for the Heat to win with Lebron taking only 25.56% of the shots (which would be #4 above, for 4th smallest load since 1991).

These stats are easily verifiable at bballref by going to the Finals Series Page for any year of the Finals, such as 2014 (http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_2014_finals.html#SAS-MIA), and then clicking "Previous Season" or "Next Season" in the upper left, or using the drop-down list found under the "NBA Playoffs" tab where it lists all the years.

So if I understand this right... LeBron doesn't shot jack so he is not an elite player? It doesn't bother you that for evidence you pointed to the two best teams in the last 10 years as evidence?

Well, when you are shooting nearly 60% with 28 points, i'd personally want him to take more shots. Something like 35 on 55% or 40 on 50% would have changed the flow of the game.

Did you watch the finals? Even when LeBron had periods in which he would isolate almost ever position (there were a few quarters he had ~15-20 points IIRC) the Spurs would still dominate the scoreboard. While it's clear that the Heat were significantly better with him on the floor in general, LeBron's scoring seemed to have very little impact against the Spurs outside of games 1 and 2.

idk man. When your teammates are playing bad and you are shooting 58% and just don't seem to be missing, shouldn't you just take over? Especially when you are the best player in the league?

Almost guarantees top 5 unless he retires and plays no more.
