In all fairness, he never had a chance to overtake Larry once he pulled that "Decision" crap and followed it up with a massive finals chokejob the next year.

He already has...

ORtg: 119.7

Larry Regular Season (23-29)
PER: 23
TS%: 55.4
eFG%: 50.6

What about the postseason?

Lebron Postseason (23-29, 105 games)
PER: 28.7
TS%: 58
eFG%: 51.8
ORtg: 116.5

Larry Postseason (23-29, 87 games)

21 out of 24 years since 1991, the #1 option on the Finals-winning team took more than 25.56% of the team's shots, which means the load Lebron took on in 2014 Finals (25.56% of his team's shots) was not a large load and the notion that he couldn't have done more, or no one else would have done more, is wrong - 21 out of the last 24 did more.

In all fairness, he never had a chance to overtake Larry once he pulled that "Decision" crap and followed it up with a massive finals chokejob the next year.

Shamelessly copy pasted because it perfectly sums up my thoughts

Durability
- Lebron has ONLY missed 39 games in his NBA career, for an average of 3.5 missed games per year
- Bird missed 169 games in his NBA career, an average of 13 missed games per year
- Lebron is a tank who barely misses games, Bird became more injury prone as his career went on

Scoring
- Lebron has a career average of 27.5 points, career TS% of 57.9%, eFG% of 52.8%
- Bird has career averages of 24.3 points, career TS% of 56.4%, eFG% of 51.4%
- Lebron scored more, and he scored more efficiently.

Rebounding
- Lebron has a career average of 7.2 rebounds, with a rebounding % of 10.8
- Bird has career averages of 10 rebounds per game, with a rebounding % of 14.5
- Bird is the better rebounder, grabs more rebounds and grabs a higher % of his teams rebounds as well

Playmaking
- Lebron has career averages of 6.9 assists, 3.3 turnovers, an assist % of 34.3, and a turnover% of 12.2
- Bird has career averaged of 6.3 assists, 3.1 turnovers, an assist % of 24.7, and a turnover% of 12.7
- Lebron wins here

Defense
- Lebron is a five time and counting member of the All NBA Defensive 1st team, and DPOY runner up
- Bird was never named to the first team, was never a DPOY or a DPOY runner up, was better at racking up steals
- Hard one to compare really, but this is Lebron convincingly in my eyes.

Misc
- Lebron has a career PER of 27.7 Vs Bird who has a career PER of 23.5
- Lebrons has a PER of 27.3 in the playoffs Vs Bird who has a PER of 21.4 in the playoffs
- Lebron has made 1000+ 3's on 34% shooting Vs Bird who made 649 on 38% shooting
- Lebron has surpassed Bird in scoring, and assist even though he played 2 less seasons
- Lebron and Bird both have 2 Finals MVP's
- Larry Bird has 3 championships, while Lebron has 2
- Lebron has 4 MVP trophies, while Bird has 3
- Lebron currently has 161.2 win shares total in his career Vs Bird who has 145.8 through 13 NBA seasons

Heat weren't worried about Durant, as they had to guard more dangerous players like Westbrook and Harden. They let KD pile up his empty stats, cause they knew he would disappear in the clutch like he always does. :lol

Here's something KD's incapable of doing:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201405120BRK.html

It's called stepping up in the Playoffs.

This is the SOLE REASON LeBron can never overtake Larry as the GOAT SF.
LeBron is already over Bird.

Larry Bird in his 35 years in the NBA - 21,791 Points, 8,974 Rebounds, 5,695 Assists, 1,556 Steals, 755 Blocks (34,443 minutes)

LeBron in his 29 years in the NBA - 23,170 Points, 6,086 Rebounds, 5,790 Assists, 1,444 Steals, 675 Blocks (33276 minutes)

LeBron did that in 52 fewer games, BTW.

Playoffs:

Bird - 3,897 Points, 1,683 Rebounds, 1,062 Assists, 296 Steals, 145 Blocks (6,886 and 164 Games)

LeBron - 4,419 Points, 1,332 Rebounds, 1,019 Assists, 273 Steals, 138 Blocks (6,717 minutes and 158 Games)

MVP's: LeBron - 4 Bird - 3
Rings: LeBron - 2 Bird - 3
FMVP: LeBron - 2 Bird - 2
All-NBA First: LeBron - 8 Bird - 9
All-NBA 2nd: LeBron -2 Bird - 1
All-D First: LeBron - 5 Bird - 0
All-D 2nd: LeBron - 1 Bird - 3

Career Averages in the RS:

LeBron - 28/7/7/2/1 on 58% TS
Bird - 24/10/6/2/1 on 56% TS

Career Averages in the PO's:

LeBron - 28/8/6/2/1 on 58% TS
Bird - 24/10/7/2/1 on 55% TS

STOP THIS RIDICULOUS LINE OF THINKING AND STOP SPAMMING EVERY THREAD WITH IT.

You are literally accusing him of not being good because he didn't shoot more. Which is assinine.

This pinnacle of Kobe's career was probably his 2010 FMVP. He played two more games than LeBron. If he would have shot an identical number of times and made an identical number of shots through G5 he would have gone 7/36 in G6 and 7/36 in game 7 to end up at his stats.

OR... If LeBron would finished the series 0/37 he STILL would have shot a better percentage than Kobe's glorious series.

So lets give LeBron the 37 awful shots he shouldn't have taken. What is your percentage now?

Its not about the # of shots. Its about the number of shots THAT GO IN. I'm so sorry that I have to explain that to you.

I disagree with this. When the games were close and still within reach in the Finals LeBron definitely should have been shooting more. The Spurs aren't a team that you can come back against once they have you down 25 because they are just too technically sound. So deciding to shoot a lot once they already practically have you beat (which LeBron did in the Finals; he statpadded quite a bit) does no good.
