Terrible shooter, passer, ball handler, zero right hand, turnover prone, and a clueless defender. Great dunker. Great nickname.

I actually thought his highlights showed some potential but I didn't watch his career so I'll take your word for it.

He sucked.

Was a great dunker, and that's it.

Most overhyped wannabe Jordan ever. Baby Jordan was a great nickname, everything but his dunking left much to be desired.

He was out of the league in 3 years. That should tell you how good he was.

He was actually pretty good, had a good offensive game. I would say he was slightly better overall than prime kobe

Remember Gerald Green V1.0? Well, that was basically Miner, except Miner was probably more efficient despite being 3 inches smaller.

When I first started watching basketball as a kid, my mom bought me this NBA Rising Stars video (1995 I believe?), just a compilation video featuring the likes of Penny Hardaway, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Dan Majerle and also Harold Miner. I just loved him cause he was a vicious dunker.

This was the tape:

I agree with all this except the nickname was just ok.

IIRC he did some stupid routine before shooting each free throw. Like around his back twice and some other nonsense.

I think Harold was what he was. Explosive inside but slightly undersized and lacking of really consistent range. That said, I think he could have hung around for more years than he did, were it not for his injury issues. Regardless, he was a fun one to watch and that clip was quite enjoyable.

Here's an SI "Where Are They Now?" video feature they threw together a few weeks ago: http://www.si.com/nba/video/2014/07/02/where-are-they-now-harold-miner-baby-jordan. Always seemed like a chilled out dude with his head on straight, now just living off the tens of millions he earned during his short career.

Very overrated in miami. He won dunk contest and at that time, if u won the dunk contest, people just assumed you were good. Cavs got him and he sucked.

Haha, yeah I remember the free throw routine. I wanted him to be a star so bad but he just didn't have it. I remember freaking out when his Nike commercial came out after he won the dunk contest (first Heat player in a commercial I believe). "I am Harold Miner".

He scored pretty well in his first 2 seasons, on a per-minute basis at least, but didn't do much else.

He said he suffered from Knee injuries that's why he retired at 24.

I saw him at SC. He was an electric player.

Watched Harold Miner play. He was my buddy's favorite player at that time, just cuz he played at USC.

While Miner wasn't half bad at USC, the NBA the media hype far exceeded his game.

I remember that ad someone else mentioned.

Awesome dunker, but not much of a basketball player.

During his short prime, Miner was an average to slightly above average level NBA shooting guard by 90s perimeter player standards.
In other words, he would be a G League level shooting guard by today's standards, or among the worst shooting guards in the NBA if he actually made the pros.

Saw him play in college.

That's when all the Baby Jordan hype was out of control.

Harold Miner is a great example of why today's athletes aren't better - he was like Dwayne Wade but without the modern handle - he simply lacked today's modern handle that allows players to go wherever they want and dominate - but the athleticism was off-the-charts and that was the case with many players back then that were 6"4" to 6'10"... They were super-athletes but lacked today's handle or shooting, so no on realizes that their athleticism compares to today's players... Sean Elliot, Michael Finley, Isiah Rider, Tariq-Abdul-Wahad, and countless more - these guys would be today's studs that everyone thinks are so athletic - the 90's had them too but they lacked the handle to be stars in a game that was becoming more spaced and requiring more handle over touch/pure scoring ability that the unspaced 80's required
