View Full Version : Learn html 4 or 5 first
Hi,
I don't have any experience with all the "web related" coding languages.
I want to change that. Nothing professional, just advanced basics and then see what comes next. I understood that the best place to begin is html.
I have some options to learn: A friend of mine gave me many books on html4. Lynda.com, which I have full access to, teaches html5, codeacademy.com some kind of combination.
Should I begin with html4 and then go to 5? or is it better to go directly to html5?
thx

I'll do that without even thinking twice, if I have had a professional or business interest. It is just, I have beeen always very interested in the subject and the possibility to create some nice private projects.
This year I got access to almost all professional commercial tools and training through my job (adobe, Microsoft etc). So, I taught why not give it a try.

Web designing doesn't stop at just HTML. If you're going to make a website you're usually going to have ot know CSS, JavaScript and maybe some PHP. HTML and HTML5 aren't totally different language, HTML5 just has things added and stripped away that HTML has or doesn't have. IN the end you're going to have to know some HTML4+ things anyway so you might as well start with that and CSS then move up to HTML5 so you'll have a better understanding since you hav ethe foundation of HTML4.
