So when Hakeem puts up more points(29), rebounds(11), steals(2), assists(4), and blocks(4) a game while shooting better from the field, playing all time great defense and coming through in the clutch time and time again....leading a team with Otis Thorpe as his #2 to the title...holding Patrick Ewing to 35% shooting, having game winning blocks in the finals, and generally being leaned on to be his teams best everything...

Dirks run is still better.

And not just better...better than any he ever had...when Hakeem was even BETTER the following playoffs.

Hakeem did everything. Hes scoring 30 a game....and found time to play epic defense.

You know Dirk has never had a game with 4 steals and 4 blocks? Not once in 1400 games. Not really a knock...it doesnt often happen. KG has only done it 6 times in 19 years. Tim Duncan has only done it once. So im not saying dirk needs to do it to prove something....

And that was the worst series he played in 2 years. If not longer considering that in 93 he put up 26/14/5 with 5 blocks and 2 steals a game in the playoffs. He puts up a series of 29/15 with 6 blocks, 5 assists, and 2 steals a game and it isnt even newsworthy.

The rest of that playoffs isnt really noteworthy by the standards of the top forwards. It certainly doesnt eclipse Hakeems best years.

Which says nothing about Jordan, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, West, Shaq, and so on.

Dirks postseason is not going down with the best of the best.

this thread is funny but where I will agree is this -- from purely a story perspective Dirk's finals run was one of the best ever. Given his playoff heartbreak, coming up against the "superteam", etc etc, for him to play extremely well and lead his franchise to its first ever championship was a joy to watch.
