''I've long believed that India is the next great frontier for the NBA, and adding a talented player like Sim only underscores the exponential growth basketball has experienced in that nation,'' said Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, the league's first Indian-born majority owner.

''While Sim is the first player of Indian descent to sign with an NBA franchise, he represents one of many that will emerge from that region as the game continues to garner more attention and generate ever-increasing passion among a new generation of Indian fans.''

They got 1.3 Billion people

They better be able to produce more than 1 NBA level talent.

Likewise with China.

If a player is good, legitimately, it will show on the court outside of race.

Don't have a problem with it :confusedshrug:

Had there been a 7'5" white or black guy with better skills he passed up, there would be an issue. Favoritism is ok as long as you aren't discriminating against someone else inb4 "playing favorites mean's you're automatically discriminating against everyone else

its not about the size of the population, its about having the infrastructure for a sport in place to develop talent. india don't give 2 shits about basketball. only reason sim bhullar is where he is, is because he's canadian. no person is going to come directly from the indian subcontinent and play in the nba for any amount of foreseeable future. the sport is just non existent there.
