View Full Version : Have you ever said a player would be a bust when they got drafted and they did well?

For me, I admit it was Andre Drummond in recent memory.

i thought Kobe was going to be a bust especially after those 4 airballs against the JAzz, but then against, who cares about a 13th pick anyway.

Speaking of Drummond, who would you draft at #2 in a redraft if you're MJ? Drummond (so no Jefferson) or Lillard (so no Kemba, or play one at the 2)?

:oldlol:

Can any pick outside the top 3 be considered a "bust"?

I though Evans would be shit, and Fredette would be the next great shooter

I thought Noah would bust and Brewer would be the best player between the trio of Noah/Horford/Brewer. :facepalm

Lillard. Remember Steph Curry came from a no name school and dominated. I liked MKG's ability out of college but man his jumpshot was just so unorthodox and not effective. He just sounded like a 18 year old Trevor Ariza with more athleticism.

Nope, Austin Rivers still blows gigantic ass.

My best friend and I were analyzing prospects for 2-3 hours. We watched Austin Rivers for 3 minutes and said he is so overhyped and highfived each other recently about it.

Blake after his injury. I thought "Clippers get the #1 pick and it's another bust." Didn't know he's spearhead the best team in Clipper history.

Yes! I am one of those victims too to assume that.

Henson's still young and has plenty of time to work on his game. I like what I saw last year, long shotblocker, good finisher down low. Just needs to work on his short 10-15 ft jumper range and get a go to move down low.

I didn't think Anthony Davis would bust, but I will admit he has far surpassed my expectations. We need to get this kid in the playoffs and see what he can really do!

I hated on MCW pretty hard leading up to the draft and now I feel like an idiot.

Still riding the Rivers train though, one of these days he'll put it all together

I never judge high school and college talent well. I swear I thought Carmelo would be better than Bron and Antony Davis would bust.

I hated Oladipo because Dick Vitale was so crazy about him.

When he commentated LeBron high school games, I wasn't sure if he was touching himself or was coming out of the closet.

Joakim Noah.

Playing his college days in stacked Florida team that won back to back titles and winning most outstanding player does not automatically translate to NBA success.

I thought he was a tall player whose system propped up his strengths while down playing his weaknesses (like many players from prominent programs like Duke, UNC, etc...)

But boy was I wrong on that. Sure he is no Hakeem on offense (no one is anyways). His shooting technique is epic marion-esque bad looking.

but he is far from the scrub I predicted him to be (a taller Ronny turiaf). He still does the same things he did in college but his passing ability I underrated about him is making him an asset for the bulls. And of course his energy and defense is elite today.

This coupled with the fact that Greg oden was the #1 pick in 2007 (Noah at #9) made me look worse. :facepalm

DeMar DeRozan. Dude should be lucky that he was given big minutes from the get-go.

I was tempted to take up my friend's bet that DeMar DeRozan was not going to be an All Star. I told him he would be and he was offering a $50 bet. Should of taken it :coleman:. Also how's MCAT prep going? ahah

I've reached the point where I'm beginning to lose interest. Trying hard to get back into it. Less than one month to go. You?

Blake Griffin. I thought he would suck after the season ending injury he had in the preseason during his rookie year.

A little over a month left, I have lost interest mostly too. Trying to find more practice.

I always thought Glen Davis was gonna be a fat bum who was out of the league in 3 years, but he's actually a serviceable role player.

I thought Deron Williams and Marvin Williams would both suck in that '05 class but DWill had a great run for a few years.

I hate to say it now because he's one of my favorite players, but I really was not a fan when we drafted Joakim Noah. I thought he wasn't going to take his playing serious and would fall out of favor in a couple years. Just super unorthodox I guess.
His first year in the league he had some major maturity issues and was even suspended a game or two after altercations and some vets didn't like him and I thought for sure i was right...luckily i was really wrong about him and he turned out to be super intense and better than i could of imagined :applause:

Jrue Holiday and Russell Westbrook.

Wasn't too fond of athletic, unproven pointguards. What do I know...
