I still consider guys like Malone and Barkley greats despite not winning a chip.

Bernard King/Dominique Wilkins level. Which isn't so bad, borderline top 50.

Not high enough to be particularly relevant.

26/7/3/1/1 on 55% TS for the past 9 seasons, he's arguably the most skilled scorer of his generation, and while he hasn't done that much damage in the playoffs, he has been to the conference finals before where he pushed the eventual champions to 6 and put up 28/5/4/1 on 55% TS....he's definitely not irrelevant.

Even if you doesn't win a ring, you can't ignore the fact that he's been a good player his entire career. He's never averaged below 20 ppg, so you already know that he's been one of the best scorers since his career started.
In the end...
If he never wins a ring: Top 50-60
If he does: Top 30-35 range.

Top 50 is irrelevant. Nobody (Very few) is going to list that far. :confusedshrug:
Make no mistake, he is better than some people ahead of him.

Something like top 60-70 right now, top 40-50 if he, PJax and Fish can revive the Knicks and make some runs in the PS. I just think it's unreasonable to clown him so frequently and completely dismiss his legacy...when he's consistently been one of the best players in the game for like a decade now..if not overall, at least as a scorer, which has to count for something. And he's one of those guys who barely relies on athleticism, so he can be elite for another 5-6 years if he wants to. I shit on the Knicks a lot, but if they're serious about running the triangle, if Phil is serious about shedding guys like Amare/Bargs/JR/Felton(who's already gone) and building a balanced roster around Melo, if Derek Fisher is at least 85% as good as the hype suggests...the Knicks could be good in like 3-4 years. And if they make some deep playoff runs, why should Melo be totally dismissed in all-time discussions when inferior players like Reggie Miller are treated like gods?

It would be slightly higher than now had he stayed in Denver. That team was literally his, and it was such a dangerous team too.

Before his career ends he may wind up with around 29,000 points. I did the math once I think he needs 2 more prime seasons and then about 4 at around 21ppg to do it. Pretty realistic with the way he plays not relying nuch on athleticism.
If he reaches 29,000 career points hed be top 5 in all time scoring I believe and that should boost his ranking.
Plus he has 3 or 4 allstar and all nba team selections left in him i believe
He may end his career with:
29xxx points
11x allstar
2x all nba 2nd team
7x all nba 3rd team
2013 scoring champion
NCAA Champion
Good resume for sure, hell be a hall of famer when its said and done
