View Full Version : When will we see a transgender NBA/WNBA player?

I started thinking about this when I saw a debate about whether or not a transgender woman should be allowed to compete in her country's Olympic games. My thinking is no because, regardless of hormone treatments, surgery and whatnot, as someone originally born as a man, she would still have an unfair strength advantage over the other female athletes.

Then I started thinking about Lebron for some reason. As a gag I told a friend that if the Cavs don't win it all he'd probably get a sex change so he could dominate the WNBA, but joking aside, I wonder if the NBA/WNBA have policies in place for transgender players? It wouldn't be a problem if it were a female to male change, because that athlete could always depend on finesse, but a male to female athlete could potentially destroy the WNBA and dunk all over these girls.

Obviously I don't think any current players would make the change, but do you think in the future we'll see a transgender player in either the NBA or WNBA?

To be honest if a transgendered man is good enough to compete with men, there shouldnt be a problem.

But the reverse cant be allowed in the WNBA.

That's my thinking too, but no way in hell would they make one allowance without the other.

Perhaps, I honestly would have no problem with a regular women joining the nba if they were good enough. Even if the WNBA was still intact. Double standard, but not something to get upset about.

If I'm not mistaken women are technically allowed to join the NFL. One girl tried out for kicker. She failed horribly, but if she had been good.......

Cheryl Miller tried out for a team in the early 80s but was cut. That;s the closest a women ever got to making the NBA. And since she's the GOAT female, doubt someone will get even closer.

You could take the best WNBA players and they'd fail to make any D1 College teams, let alone the NBA.

Yeah, the chance of a female being good enough is basically nonexistent.

a transgender (male to female) would dominate the WNBA
like 35pts per game career average 50 pts per game peak

arent their D1 female college teams that practise against average male students that lose from time to time?

The athleticism and length is too much to make up. You can have a team with the most skilled 5-10 girls in the world and they would lose to a team with some 6-9 bum off the streets with long arms, decent hands, and ability to dunk/make layups.

Should genetically superior aliens be allowed in the NBA?

When I attended Texas, we would have some WNBA players play pickup with regular college students with a little more game than your average players. To be straight honest, I was not impressed at all. If I could hang with these chicks, then D1 players would wreck shop on them.

Very interesting part by the OP, though. Best post I've seen in a while.

Right after they let Fallon Fox beat up on women in the UFC. Never in other words. Create your own league or pick up pottery. You shouldn't be allowed to beat up women just because you decide to chop your dick off and make shift a gash between your legs. Your muscles are still man muscles, even with the estrogen injections.
