I was hoping one of the people that keeps defending the police in the numerous other Ferguson threads would come up with some bogus reason that this particular cop wasn't in the wrong.

Nope, it's the idiots on the left who are unable to grasp common sense and not jump to conclusions. This guy deserves to be fired, ESPECIALLY considering the location and circumstances.

if cops could not instill any fear in people, nobody would ever listen to them without physical violence.
you all want it both ways. reality is when they're throwing around words, there have to be penalties if you don't listen. otherwise the tazer, baton, or weapon coming out is the only next viable step.
they're there to create order, to prevent chaos, prevent crimes, keep things orderly. they've been given the power to do that no matter how much u might hate how they do it. its ignorant how people pretend cops can just be friendly to everyone and we're all going to listen that way :facepalm
trayvon, fat guy who died of asphyxiation, fat boy mike brown all didn't follow orders and tragedy struck. why is it so hard for a lot of u to understand that? and u jump to the conclusion its going to happen to u for no reason....refusing to even acknowledge those people ever did anything wrong time and again :facepalm
this cop is right....too bad he picked a bad time to say it, and can't win against the political correctness, and liberal movement of America with a liberal Prez leading the black agenda charge.

Dude...you seem like a nice guy but you are way off on this issue, its actually offensive. You seem to think the police are all great people but I can tell you that is wrong. I know a friend who was assaulted by police at his home during a drug raid. They got a incorrect tip off and my friend got a sprained ankle and damage to his face and chest because of this case of mistaken identity. He didnt receive compensation and no one was punished. I can only hope one of your family members or friends isnt victimized by the police.

Now if he's doing this to a journalist who has a camera pointed at him, with dozens of witnesses around... imagine what he's like on his everyday beat with no witnesses.
But no, he has a uniform and a badge, he's the good guy. Couldn't possibly do anything wrong.

Exactly. Some people are just too retarded to know when they are speaking shit. I like how losers who dont leave their house are qualified to tell us about how great the police are out on the streets.

Godzuki, you have blinders on in regards to this issue. You're complaining that other posters are only seeing things one way, but you're not seeing any nuance in this issue either.
The nuance is there are good cops and there are bad cops. The cop who pointed his weapon and threatened to kill protesters was STOPPED by another cop who recognized he went over the line. (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/st-louis-area-suspended-threatening-kill-media-ferguson-article-1.1911046)
People have a legal right to video the police on the job. Threatening to kill someone is the crime of assault with a deadly weapon. They are allowed to use force, but only within legal guidelines. Police are not allowed to commit crimes.
If bad cops go unpunished, it gives rise to a toxic police culture. Ever see the movie Serpico? Cops who use excessive force are much more likely to be dirty in other ways, such as corruption. There was a famous case in NY, where a cop had many, many complaints of corruption made against him, but he was only stopped after cops on Long Island arrested him for shaking down drug dealers.

i get there are good cops and bad cops, i wish some people here would get that reality instead of generalizing them all as bad, but i also get cops have to be able to put fear in people to make them listen. without that they're useless.
how do you make a crowd disperse that won't listen? answer that for me then. put yourself in the police shoes. no they do not have a right to stand there in the midst of a riot. if anything they're helping the rioters by giving them a impediment/cover to hide behind.
if it was peaceful they have a right to stand there and protest....but they haven't been peaceful.
all i want to know is how are YOU going to get people to disperse if they're not listening to your words? Tell me :confusedshrug:

You seem to equate riots with protests. You can also properly and legally arrest people without threatening to kill them and certainly with drawing a bead on them.
Also you keep talking about Trayvon Martin not listening to police. There were no law enforcement on scene until after he died. Zimmerman was asked by the citizen 911 dispatcher not to follow Martin and he disregarded this.

not sayign drawing a bead on someone to get them to move is exactly right, but i do think tear gas, and things along those lines are fine when people won't listen to their attempts to create order.
they did this stuff when there were riots or non peaceful protesters, or the aftermath of those type of things to make people go home. as far as i know they haven't done that to completely peaceful protesters from the get go. worst i've seen is them pushign them along forcing them to keep moving....
and some of these reporters are ridiculous. you have that CNN guy who always covers politics trying to humiliate them in one video clip for being heavily armed....then the next video he's covering them rioting and throwing molotov cocktails :facepalm

Yes, you can. But when a good amount of protesters starting robbing/destroying stores people worked hard for, causing harm to other protesters and officers, the game changes.
Examples of actual protests:
http://www.popularresistance.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Ezell-Ford-protest-12-8-15-14-e1408289875988.jpg

http://generalstrikeusa.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/z_police_protest003.jpg
But hey, according to Boozehound, those people didn't riot/loot/cause harm due to being in a different area!

If the idea is crime prevention....comitting crime probably isnt the way to go about it.
If what he did was fine or legal the other cop wouldnt have come to get him to stop....and he wouldnt be suspended.
He cant go aorund putting his gun on people threatening to murder them because he has a badge and they....exist near people doing the wrong thing.
If he has to break the law to enforce it then hes not very good at his job.
Which is probably why hes been suspended from it.
If they dont move on.....
Start arresting people and charging them with crimes.
Dont commit crime yourself.
Are there enough cops to arrest everyone?
No. Thats why mass protests are hard to stop. You cant arrest everyone. Cops arent used to being so helpless.
But within the law...they really are.
And if they arent staying within the law they lose the moral high ground to even be taken serious.

i agree with your logic and practical middle grounded' reasoning at least...
cops make mistakes, they have emotions like everyone does, and not all of the cops acted that way.
i'd assume u wouldn't have a issue with tear gas or smoke tho to make them disperse? since those are crowd control mechanisms.

Yeah but being a cop is their job, if they make an emotional mistake which compromises their role, they should be held accountable and lose their job. And if they violated the law in their emotional mistake, they should also be prosecuted.

i read about the cop, don't know if its this same one and saw the speech he gave, and i'll give in that u guys are right about him if its the same guy.
its funny because i was watching this CNN clip before alll of that came out and there is this CNN reporter at a protest with this one cop pushing everyone back with his arms out wide, and he's the only cop doing it. the cnn reporter is calling his name out....then i read/see the story of this cop giving a speech and thinking i know that guy. then at the end of the article they mention about how the CNN reporter had a confrontation with him :lol
i still think blaming this on all cops is akin, or even worse than blaming the protesters for all rioters.
