To determine first option:
You don't go by who takes the most shots or else Westbrook would be first option.
You don't go by who handles the ball at the end of games or else PGs would be first options.
You go by who the go-to-scorer is in crunch time and takes the last shot of a game.

So was Bill Russell and no one considers him a 1st option

All a first option is is the player a particular set is designed to get into scoring position before moving on to other options if the defense didnt give you what you wanted.
The first option will vary play to play.
Depending on the offense...Lebron is given freedom to decide what happens...because hes placed in isolation to attack. But his nature is to look for the open man....so he can be the first option as in...the play is setup to get him the ball to attack...but not shoot because someone collapses and he hits the open man.
Because of that he can easily be the first option on plays late in game or not...and not shoot.
A player shooting or not does not decide what option they were on the play.
A lot of players simply break the offense at the first sign of a breakdown.
Vernon maxwell was the master of pretending the play broke down so he can just make something happen.

Lebron DOES take the last shot now though
I mean in like 2011 he used to defer and stuff but especially since 2013 he's noticeably been less afraid of taking the big shot

He should stop while he's ahead to be fair. Not gonna throw in the Ray Allen shot but when he tried to take over 2013's finals in game 6 he missed 3? shots in a row before chris bosh's tip. :facepalm

Before Ray Allens shot Lebron scored or assisted on all but one shot Miami made in the entire fourth quarter.

Each game a different 1st option should rise, if smart active coaching happened.
It's just a made up term that doesn't really apply to the game other than to give idiotic fanboys a bone and a simploid way of looking at reality allowing them to actually have arguments with other equally limited fanboys.

Probably, but late in the 4th quarter, Kyrie Iriving for sure will be their savior. Love + Lebron in the 4th.

It wont be Lebron? You think just because he is not selfish enough to all the time deny a wideopen Kyrie/Love he is not the go to guy?

A boxscore doesn't tell you who the 1st option is, a gameplan does. Of course this would require some actual basketball knowledge while OP couldn't even put together a 2-line paragraph to make his point...
