View Full Version : Who could lead the 2007 CAVS to championship OTHER then Lebron James in history?

Lebron James's biggest feat and it was massive, and nobody realizes it, that he lead basically a developmental league to the championship by himself.

Who could lead a team of scrubs to the championship like he did? Please don't say Michael Jordan because he doesn't influence the game enough outside of scoring to do so.

probably nobody. that team didnt belong in the finals. they got a free pass playing in the sh*t east. just needed to luck out one series vs detroit. and by then the pistons were about to break apart

but if one man could do it..... i choose the guy who destroyed the spurs and duncan more than anyone else ever has

kobe bean bryant.

LOL, the East was bunch of D league players that year. Tmac, Kobe, Iverson, Wade, Durant, MJ, Scottie, Rose, many more to name but too lazy to type out all the them

OP, what drugs are you on? You know a simple Google search would've shown you that LeBron didn't lead the Cavs to a championship, right? He led then to the Finals, which doesn't mean they won the championship trophy.

duncan owns kobe. ****ing bowen won a game by himself against kobe. and that cavs team didn't have a 20/10 player so kobe cant win.

both lebron and kobe are barely top 20 players. lebron is 2/5 in the pathetic east. kobe had more help than anyone ever.

who is this fool? :facepalm

that team was a top defensive and rebounding team. Lebron didn't do that on his own.

It was a far from stacked team but they did get timely performances from guys like Daniel Gibson.

Quite some players would had won championship or at the very least made series very competitive. Every Top10 player in prime would have done it, hell - make it Top20.

See, now this is an objective view on the 2007 Cavs. Gibson went bananas in Game 6 ECF

The same Terry who destroyed Kobe in the fourth game of a sweep in 2011?
How about Barbosa who demolished Kobe in a winner take all game7 in 2006?

3ball
08-23-2014, 01:40 PM
that detroit team he beat in the conference finals was not very good - they weren't the championship team from years past - 2-time defensive player of the year and heart/soul of the team Ben Wallace had been replaced by a very old, decrepit chris webber.

it's like taking Hibbert off the pacers or something...

so yeah, a lot of guys historically would also have made the Finals that year.

Truthfully, Lebron has never beaten a championship level team to get to the Finals... the Pacers that Lebron beat have proved to be far from championship caliber and had never been to the Finals before... The Celtics he beat were the post-Garnett-injury Celtics who were older, and well, Garnett was post-injury.

Lebron shot 41.6% during the 07 run.

Kobe only shot that bad in 97,98 and 04 (Colorado)

And just look at the teams the Cavs played...

41-41 Wizards
41-41 Nets
53-29 Pistons

Only one team with a winning record !!!!!!!

You would probably need 2 other stars to replecate what lebron did in 2007

Like a Garnett Duncan or a TMac

Or a great 2 way player (Pippen) and a great scorer like Melo

Spurs still win btw

Kidd was by far their best offensive and defensive player..big men routinely shitted on that front court (Duncan and Shaq raped them in the Finals). Even Kobe had his most efficient Finals ever against them.

Just a team that was ranked 17th on offense and 1st on D.

They are NOT a great team. Great teams are teams like the 80s Lakers and Celtics, 90s Bulls, 00s Spurs.

They're just a very good or above average team who took advantage of weak conference competition.

They wouldn't even make it to the WCF right now.

Kidd had Van Horn, Kittles and K-Mart along with some no-name center.

Not very good, very good would have been more competitive against the 02 Lakers and a very good team would have been able to keep Tim Duncan and Shaq to put up their averages, not monster, 70s big men numbers.

not many players would lead that team to a title. but dozens would lead them to the finals.

lebron played three average teams, ans his stats weren't even anything special. put mj, kareem, shaq, duncan, wilt, moses, hakeem, barkley, dirk on those teams and they still make it.

Learn how about basketball, use some common sence, and don't be fooled by the media. Johnson did nothing but be an assist man on a good team (for the day) and Larry Bird was solid at everything great at nothing.

You just described Luol Deng. You basically just said Larry Bird was Luol Deng. Great at nothing? Holy lord. He was great at EVERYTHING, except maybe defense.

Combined records above, 135 -111

Lakers 1987 opponents combined records to get to the Finals, 118-128.

What is this?

Are you kidding? Magic was much more than an assist man. Otherwise, he'd average 16+ apg if he wanted to. He did what was needed to help his team win. He scored, he posted up, he distributed, he grabbed rebounds, hit free throws, he made great decisions in clutch, and he helped support team-mates when they needed it, and ran one of the most unstoppable offences in history.

Larry did very similar things as well. And yes he was great at a lot of things, but he made it look easy.

Both amazing leaders.

Please go and watch some game footage from the 80s.

Both of these players would have made the finals with the 2007 Cavs, possibly win as well. The leadership they provided made their teams into HOF dynasties. All players benefited from them.

Make finals is possible, yes, but just no way any one them result in winning the title.
