View Full Version : Chris Bosh will be a top 10 player this year

Like Lebron, Bosh has increased his skill sets considerably since his early years in Toronto when he was a 22 and 11 guy. He is far more dangerous on the perimeter and is probably the best perimeter shooting PF in the league with a quick trigger. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays very well.

i wouldn't be surprised or shocked in the least bit. I'm interested to see what he can do as a No. 1 option at this stage in his career.

This. I don't get why everyone's acting like it's so farfetched

Top 10 is certainly possible, if he can get back to being a 24/10 guy.

Bosh is better than people give him credit for, it's possible.

Ummm.....Bosh's game has unquestioningly DEvolved since leaving Toronto. OP obviously had never watched Bosh before going to Miami. :oldlol:

Nope..
Lebron
Durant
Paul
Westbrook
Curry
Love
Griffin
Davis
Howard
Harden
Dirk
Aldridge
Carmelo
M. Gasol
Wade
Healthy Kobe
Rose
Are all clearly better players than Chris Bosh at his best with the Raptors...And considering that he's 30 as opposed to 25..it's unlikely he reaches even toronto cb4 levels again...

Bosh may be a top 10 MVP candidate. Which, today, means almost nothing. He may win MIP if he's eligible to do so. He may put up top 10 stats on a good team (going back to the MVP "argument"). But he won't be a top 10 player in the league.

Bolded the players I 100% agree with. The rest are up for debate depending on how the season goes.

Top 10 is a stretch. Wade will still be the first option and Bosh doesn't have the rebounding prowess to be considered a top 10 player as a second option IMO. I'm expecting around 20/9 on solid efficiency and good defense which should put him in the top 15 range and in contention for an all-NBA spot.

Top 10 is a bit of a stretch but not out of the question. Definitely a top 20 guy.
I want to see what he can do hopefully as the first option for that Heat team. Should average 23/10.

Why not? He'll have the stats, and we know he's clutch too, so he'll have his moments to justify the "top 10 player" title. He's a super skilled player with length and athleticism who has vastly improved his defense. He's a much better help defender and rim protector than he was in Toronto.

Nah. I think he can put up 18/9 type numbers this year though. But at age 30 the decline for most begins in earnest.

Neither wade or bosh were top 20 the last 2 years and I dont see any reason for that to change

For some perspective, which people lack in regards
Bosh TS% - .597
Aldridge TS% - .507

His stats going back up bc Lebron is gone doesnt somehow make him a better player than he was last year or two years ago or five years ago :facepalm

I don't see why he can't do what LMA does.
Bosh could very well go out there next year and be Black Dirk. Hell actually have plays run for him!

He was never top 10 player before. Why would be become a top 10 player next year ? If he did, I'm expected to see a guy who's an All-NBA, All-Defensive team, and legit MVP candidate. He's only been 1 of those things 1 time in his career and that was 7 years ago.

Even at his absolute best in Toronto he was never as good as Blake, Love, Davis, or Aldridge are RIGHT NOW.
No idea if he can get back to close to Toronto form, (my money would be on NO) but it's more likely that he's not even a top 5 PF than he is a top 10 player.

:facepalm Black Dirk my ass. You clearly haven't watched many Heat games over the last few years. Aldridge can back people down in the post, or shoot from the perimeter. Bosh has already gone on record saying that he doesn't like contact, and won't be going back to his Toronto play style.
As for having plays run for him, all I know is that as someone who rooted for the Heat the last 4 years every time he would isolate I would cringe, as I knew something bad was about to happen.

:applause: Pauk slaying the OP! Totally agree with this entire list with the exception of Kobe, as I think he is done.

If Kobe is healthy next year i think he most definitely aint done, he might not win MVP, he might not win a championship, but i think he sure is capable of doing his 24+ ppg shooting/scoring thing.

:biggums:
Ibaka is just as good of a mid range shooter as Bosh, and is a much better rebounder and rim protector.
:biggums:
He is a younger/healthier player who I think might be the best interior defender in the NBA (that alone could maybe be enough to consider him over Bosh), always a DPOY candidate, then he is also a greater rebounder than Bosh and offensively he aint to shabby either, last season he scored essentially just about the same....
Bosh averaged 16.2 ppg on 12.1 FGA
Ibaka averaged 15.1 ppg on 12.1 FGA
I think Bosh's scoring ability is marginally better at this point, but i dont think you lose much scoring by taking Ibaka and you gain so much more of other things aswell.

He may have the stats. And he strikes me as an exceedingly soft player. I hope I'm wrong. That being said, the following players are 100% ahead of Bosh. I honestly can't even fathom arguments for Bosh being better...
Lebron
Durant
Paul
Westbrook
Howard
Love
Griffin
Davis
Melo
That's 9 players. Most people would add Curry, making it 10. I would add Cousins, but he's not "100% above".
But just for giggles, the following players are most likely ranked ahead of Bosh...
Dirk
Curry
Cousins
Harden
Wall
Parker
Now we have the questionable tier. Those that could be better, but it's unclear at this point.
Rose
Aldridge
Kobe
Stephenson
Ibaka
Noah
Jefferson
Anyway, as you can see, the top 10 is incredibly difficult to crack. Bosh would have to put up some pretty crazy numbers, IMO. As I said.. it can happen, but I'm not expecting it.

Hes been a top 10 talent since 2010
2 games without Bron ballhogging and dominating the ball. Forcing Bosh to the 3pters where he cant get boards
he outplayed LMA and Joakim on BOTH ends

he isnt a much better rebounder at all. Bosh is a much better passer, can create offense unlike Ibaka whos assisted on 83% of his FGs. He cant do anything w/o KD or Russ creating for him. Bosh can handle the rock, drive to the basket, make plays for others, defend pickandroll, way better switches and rotations and his man D is even better

Bosh just needs a big man to help him do all the dirty work in the post. Someone to body up the other teams biggest players, box out the other teams centres and play D on them. If Bosh was given someone like Robin Lopez etc he would be able to focus more on scoring and getting the rebounds while his big man boxes out.
3 reasons why I think Bosh will play much better this year
1. Perhaps 20+ plays run for him in a game compared to before (5>)
2. He will play PF and will have more energy for offence and rebounding as he won't need to box out the biggest guy on the court like before.
3. He has a much better mid range game then when he was in Toronto.
Big men like the Hakeems normally play their best in their early 30s compared to guards who play best in their late 20s.

Bosh is so slow now, one of the best parts about his Toronto game was his agility.
He's also lost his ability to rebound.
He's going to be about top 30 next year.

very possible if he decides to sack up and play around the paint and not seclude himself to the three or 15 footers. Bosh is very talented, the heat games Bron was out or where Bosh would go on an early tear is amazing to see. Hes just a funny/fun guy to watch play ball. Very animated. Hope he has a good year and the heat stay good.
