I get that feeling he treats basketball like a hobby.
Basketball just pays for his lifestyle in which he likes to enjoy.
Nothing wrong with that, not all players have the same desire as Jordan lebron etc

Even if he never reaches his full potential he should be a rich man's nick young plus rebounding and minus the goofy attitude.

I don't think his problem was his softness, he just couldn't get the defensive rotations right. It wasn't like he wasn't trying last year, he just kept messing up.

He was solid last year in a lot of the minutes he played. Played well within the offense, and his man defense was actually pretty good; he just got lost frequently in the silly scrambling headless chicken defense that Miami has been using for way too long now.

Have people not realized yet that Beasley obviously has mental problems. And you don't just fix those, I mean the guy is borderline retarded. It's like expecting a guy who has terrible eyesight to all of the sudden see with 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts.

What potential is there? I'm not sure that after seeing that he actually isn't very good why people insist that he still has "potential'? At what point can people just say they were wrong about him? Dude is trash.

You're right dude, the Miami staff has it all wrong. A team like Miami who desperately needs players are willing to let go of a guy that they've tried to develop, a guy who they think didn't play good d but you know that he did. You may want to give the front office a call. I think they're making a terrible mistake. It's not that Beasley played bad d it's that Miami's schemes were all wrong. Spo will be really happy to hear from you.

Dude was a beast in college and showed flashes in Miami and Minny. I think a few teams would roll the dice on him. Any hope for a big payday is gone though. Washington would be his best fit.

I doubt even the Spurs could save him. You can't insert any player under Pop and he will magically play better. They actually have to want to do those things to help themselves succeed, and apparently he just doesn't give a shit.
And the potential is there. Remember that one year in Minnesota? Dude had a long stretch (like 2 months) of 20+ a night, near 50% shooting including 30+ and even a 40+ game. He can ball.

Beasley was grossly misused in Miami last year
During the regular season he played 55 games and put up:
- 8 pts / 3 rebounds in 15 minutes
The Heat couldnt have used that off the bench in the playoffs?
Oh that's right even in the 1st and 2nd round Beasley didnt get any burn
In the right situation like in OKC, Beasley could come off the bench as a super sub.
Imagine OKC's bench: Reggie Jackson, Lamb, Beasley, McGary, Perkins

So what you're saying is that you obviously know something that the Miami coaching staff and front office doesn't? So they get to see this guy in practice and in games and they base their decision on that and other factors yet you, who got to see him play 15 minutes a game are convinced that he could have contributed more. Ok, then I ask, where are the other teams lining up to snatch up this "grossly misused" player? The evidence that Beasley is not a good player is overwhelming yet there is a small segment of people who still want to believe that he's somehow been misused or overlooked his whole career. What is the only common denominator in all of his situations? Him. He's the only constant, yet you choose to overlook that and place blame on every organization and coach yet never on him. He is who he is and it's time you came to that realization. He had one great year of college basketball but that ended in 2008. As a basketball fan you should know that being a great college player does not make you an effective pro especially when it comes to tweeners. Do you think that Riley isn't a good talent evaluator or isn't good at developing talent? This is a dude who took scrubs like Starks and Mason and made them effective starters in the NBA. If there was something there with Beasley he would have found it.

I have very little doubt that he could've averaged 20ppg+ if he ever could get his act together. He was one of the most dominant college players I've ever seen.
In his one season at Kansas State the dude averaged 26/13! That makes Parker and Wiggins look like absolute garbage. He was twice the player in college they were.
I think it's too late now though, he's about done in the league.

Lots of players have good stretches, and some even have good years. Several things can influence their numbers. One is being on a shitty team. I call this the Mike James effect. He had some awesome season in Toronto (I think) ball hogging and taking all the shots and making passes because he had the ball in his hands all the time. After averaging almost 20 pts in Toronto, the next year he averaged 14 in Minnesota. Look at Evan Turner with the Sixers last year it was the same situation. Also, often times players figure out how to guard someone and if those players' games don't develop then the player become much less useful. Being a successful pro is about being prepared and being consistent. Lots of players have had great stretches of games, that's not rare. What is rare are the players who are able to do that night in and night out and it's been proven over time that Beasley is not one of those guys.

You must not have seen many college players. Joe Smith averaged 24.6 ppg over two years in school and was nothing more than a decent pro. If you watch college basketball you would know that not all great college players' games translate to the pros, especially tweeners.

If Miami doesn't want him back, it speaks volumes about him. That's a red flag for me.

He averaged 14 points as a rookie in like 25 minutes. IMO had he been given a green light as a rookie similar to a Durant/Carmelo his career turns out differently. He was handcuffed because of his shitty defense from day 1. He put up 19/6 that one season at like 22.
Probably never develops into anything special but the talent is there. He could have succeeded in the NBA. Like alot of players the effort wasn't there and he didn't give a shit. Can't coast on talent in the NBA like you can in college.
Definite case of a player having a shitty career due to his mentality and not his talent level.
