With Nadal sidelined with injury (again), Djoker is the heavy favorite on the Men's side. The 2nd favorite would be Wawrinka IMO, but he's be struggling with consistency all year. Murray has also been struggling as of late, and I don't see him making a serious run. Federer won the last Masters tourney in Cincinnati... could he be primed to add another Major to his record?

On the Women's side, Serena is the obvious favorite. She's had an up-and-down year, but if she's on her game, nobody will beat her. Simona Halep is probably her biggest threat, but I'm not sure she will handle the pressure of being the World's #2 ranked female for the first time in her career. Petra Kvitova has played well lately, and should make a run to at least the semi's, and Sharapova is always a threat to make a run for the Final.

You know it's a weak era when they say its "Djokovic's quarter" :facepalm.

No Rafa no care :(

If I had to root for someone, it would be Murray or Stan, than he would have a breakthrough year winning both hardcourt slams.

My thoughts exactly. Sad that Delpo's out too..tennis needs him.

Let's go Murray :applause:

Ya if he makes the QF he's #1. Even if Djoker doesn't make the QF, Fed would have to win the event to surpass Djoker for #1.

Gulbis seriously pisses me off..he along with Monfils and maybe Tsonga/Gasquet/Verdasco are some of the biggest wastes of talent on the tour today.

Dude has legitimate top 5 in the world talent, and can hang with ANYONE when he's focused and in-form. He goes on a tear for a few weeks, then loses early in his next 2-3 tournaments..it's bizarre. It just doesn't seem like he's capable of being a consistent force on the tour.

I've always given him a pass considering his age..but now that he's 26 and hasn't accomplished anything of note, I'm slowly losing hope that he'll ever be a consistent elite player.

Gulbis is a billionaire, and from what I've read, didn't take his career seriously until the past 18 months or so. I think he can still take his game to another level if he can maintain the desire.

I was hoping to see Nadal, so I was kinda bummed when he bailed, but Fed would be next on my list to see live.

Really happy for Kei..thought it was over after he went down 0-3 in the first, Stan came out firing and I didn't think Kei would have anything in the tank after his match with Raonic.

He'll have enough rest before the semi..but I just can't see him beating Djokovic, or Murray, who would have to be in great form if he makes the semi.

Was busy tonight but watched the third set tie break. Was very entertaining. The weakest person left in the draw atm though is no doubt, Cilic. The guy is just a serve, I don't know how he always ends up in the top 25 as often as he does.

Fed into the semi's where he will play Cilic. Normally I wouldn't stress over Cilic, but he's playing the best Tennis he's ever played, and layed the smack down on Berdych in the last round.

The other semi is Djoker vs. Nishikori. I like Nishikori, but he doesn't do anything better than Djoker, and he's had a rough road to the semi's.

The women's draw is pretty much Serena's for the taking. Wozniacki is playing well, but if Serena's on her game, Caroline's defense won't hold.

Both Nishikori and Cilic advanced to the Final in dominate fashion over Djoker and Federer. Going to be a fun Final, where a 1st time GS winner will be announced regardless of the outcome.

Could this mark the beginning of the end of the "Big 4" era?

On the Women's side, Serena will play her good friend Caroline Wozniacki in the Final. Caroline is playing great, but Serena has this match on her racquet.

serena is peaking .. I would've said wozniacki has a great shot earlier in the tournament but I didn't like how she looked in that semifinal .. also I heard she was fighting some virus bug ? .. if that's true, might as well not even play because she won't have a shot

Women's tennis is an absolute joke. I remember when hingis and maresmo at least showed that the mid 2000s were loaded with talent IMO in the women's game.

Goran was a great player with similar weapons (however, he was far more talented than Cilic). He was a headcase and definitely learned from his mistakes by capturing his only grandslam as a wildcard at the Wimbledon 2001. I'm pretty sure if anyone bet $1000 on him that year, they would have made $1 million because the odds were stacked up against him big time.

And for the majors women play best of 3 sets compared to best of 5 for men, so the women are actually making more money per hour/match

women's tennis is a joke .. serena was not threatened at all the whole tournament .. nor in the final .. it felt like a kid(woz) was playing an adult(serena) .. in a grand slam final .. ridiculous .. serena's 33 .. ancient in the tennis world and woz is 24, in her prime yet she looked like she was struggling to even have a shot against a 33 yr old ... just shows you the quality of female players on the wta ..

talk about anticlimactic .. I hope tomorrow's match makes up for this garbage ..

I don't know about the pay issue .. I think it's because they generate as much or more viewership than men's matches .. correct me if I'm wrong

No way more people watch women's tennis over men's tennis, not a chance.
There was a big push for "equality" among men and womens tennis, lead by Venus Williams and some others.

The numbers were actually pretty close when they made the change. This was a few years back though when the women's division was stacked with players like Henin, Sharapova, Clijsters, Hingis, the Williams sisters, etc.

I actually think there is a ton of talent on both sides these days. The sport just isn't as promoted in the States anymore because outside of Serena Williams, there are no legit American contenders.
