ESPN has learned that Oklahoma City is trading Hasheem Thabeet to Philadelphia

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 8m

Thunder, I'm told, will send cash considerations to Sixers so Philly will absorb Thabeet's contract. OKC thus creates $1.25 million TPE

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 9m

Thabeet, I'm told, is likely to be waived immediately by Sixers after completion of trade

Anybody know if OKC is actively shopping Perkins' expiring + filler + young guys/pick for an upgrade @ C? Or this TPE could be used for an in-season upgrade, I'm just curious.

Thunder now nearly $2.7 million below next season's luxury tax line with 14 players under contract after dealing Hasheem Thabeet to Philly

Cavs will sign him

Actually that would be a good move for 4-6 minutes per game just protecting the rim.

He's got one more shot. If he fails, then I think his NBA career is over. If that happens he'll go on the Euroleague, and after a couple years he'll be considered "The GOAT". Or atleast the GOAT shot blocker.

It's crazy to me how he can't even stick on a roster. If you were to tell me he was gonna bust hard at the time of the draft, I would been like "yeah I could see that" but I never thought it would be quite this bad. Not even the Sixers want him lol.

Yeah he's 27 next year. I think it's safe to say that Bust label is unshakable.

I could see the Cavaliers signing him, but throughout his career he never got much playing time. The most he's ever gotten is his rookie year at 13 minutes per game with 1.3 blocks per game. Obviously a great shot-blocking, but probably horrible at so many other things that it isn't even worth it.

Has he even had a good stretch in his entire NBA career? Even something like 10/6 for two weeks.

No but he had a double double once. Here's all 21 games in his career that he played over twenty minutes :oldlol::

Talk about worthless, a 7'3 black dude that can't play for shit.

In terms of production, is Thabeet the biggest bust relative to his draft position in history? I mean, even notable busts like Candyman and Kwame had decent/serviceable seasons. Even Oden in his equivalent of 1 year has already eclipsed what Thabeet has done in 5 seasons.

slow as fck, can barely catch the ball, no hops, no moves, zero redeemable qualities.

likely failed as a project too

When Omer Asik with his atrocious offense can get a starting gig, it makes me shudder to think how bad Thabeet is to only get 10mpg

I hope that means OKC will sign someone. Thabeet is a scrub, but he a fun guy, will miss him a little.

Interesting... who will OKC get?

When a guy is 7'3 and actually moves well at his size and can't even get any playing time you know he's beyond garbage.

Is there a case to be made for Thabeet as THE biggest bust ever (among players who actually played in the NBA)?

He was "only" a second pick, but you can't be much worse than that as a second pick.

It was a deep, strong draft, too, with Blake Griffin, James Harden, Stephen Curry, DeMar DeRozan, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Ricky Rubio, Tyreke Evans, Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, Taj Gibson, Darren Collison, Jordan Hill, Gerald Henderson, Toney Douglas,... DeJuan Blair, Patty Mills, Danny Green, Jodie Meeks, Dante Cunningham in the second round...

Perennial all-stars, occasional and borderline all-stars, or simply decent rotation players everywhere... Something like 50 of the 60 available players had better careers than Thabeet.

It took real creativity and skill to screw this one up but somehow they did it.

Cavs will sign him

They do need a back-up center.
