Barry Larkin - Hall of Fame, Cincinnati Reds, Shortstop

One of the greatest, most professional shortstops ever. When the torch was passed to him at the shortstop position as far as "his time" it came from Ozzie Smith. Famous for his strong arm and Jeter-like throws out of short-stop before Jeter ever came into the league. Went to Moeller High School in Cincinnati and basically has lived there nearly his whole life.

Before any redneck 'Murican gets on my case, read about him and educate yourself. He was from a well to do family and was finishing his studies to become a doctor when he took a motorcycle trip through Latin America with a buddy of his and after witnessing the negative effects of the US rampant capitalism and the exploitation of the impoverished indigenous peoples, he decided something had to be done. He gave up a guaranteed comfortable lifestyle as a doctor amongst Buenos Aires elite to try and better the lives of the poorest of the poor. Agree or disagree with his politics, if we had more people who cared that much about other's living conditions, the world would be a much better place.

It's a lot more complicated than that and you know it. What he accomplished in Cuba was helping the revolutionaries topple the corrupt Batista regime. He had his disagreements with Castro on how to run the country, he eventually left to help topple other extreme rightwing dictatorships in Latin America. Also, let's not pretend the US embargo with the backing of butthurt Cuban elitist exiles didn't make life that much worse for Cubans...

The US is one country. Cuba is still free to trade with the rest of the world. Oh that's right. They have nothing to trade. Communist countries don't invent or innovate in anything. There's only so many cigars you can sell.

If Cuba suddenly became a democratic country, you could make an absolute killing in the import/export business. Cuba's own policies is what keeps them from prospering.
