Maybe boxscores aren't everything and they were willing to let him get his as long as the team was not in a position to win? West is an all-time great, but let's be honest, what was the pace and how many minutes did he play? Who defended him?

All of them Hall of Famers except Nellie (who is in the Hall as a coach), all of them great, great defensive artists.

In his late career he faced another all-time great team, the Knicks. And within that terrific NYC team defense.... Walt Frazier was better defensively than any of those Celtics including even Havlicek - Clyde was absolutely elite.

And what would I have against West? He was the one that got Kobe on the Lakers. He was the one that said Kobe's the greatest Laker ever.

other was a punching bag in an era dominated by the Celtics, won his only ring shooting 37,6% for the Playoffs, a sidekick to past-prime Wilt, 19.8 ppg in the Finals

1/9 is amazing. Especially when he was routinely putting up 30 ppg games in them. Not only that, but he went to game seven's (including a double OT game), in FOUR of them, and three of those were by margins of 3, 2, and 2 points...in games in which West scored 35, 36, and 42 points. Only a complete idiot would say otherwise. I don't understand how these fools continually use the number of Final appearances against a player. To be within an eyelash of three rings is a testament to greatness...not "choking."

West had a very modern game. Watch some of his highlights, and you can easily see them translating to the modern era. He'd be Steve Nash with better defense and a scorer's mentality.

He's closer to Kobe in size than Steve Nash... Nash is 6-1 without shoes (bob cousys size) west was 6-4 and change without shoes so he's in a different tier altogether with way he can bring to the floor than Steve Nash. That's why he was so good defensively, decent size and length (6-9 armspan). His list info throws a lot of ppl off about who he should be compared too, he's closer to wade and Kobe in size than any point guard.
