Not to come off as a fanboy or anything, but 10s of thousands of Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail accounts get hacked every day. :confusedshrug:

Also, not all the pics being hacked are iPhones.

The whole reputation about Apple and their products was that they could not be hacked or couldn't get viruses.

I don't know who spread this rumor out but a lot of people nowadays believe this garbage. Because of this, Apple does not take extra security measures to make sure their users' information is secure. Now maybe people will realize that Apple products are not what everyone thinks them to be.

Nothing is inherently infinitively secure.

I don't think anybody has ever said that iCloud was incapable of being hacked into. It's happened in the past, it will happen again no matter what security measures are taken.

The reason they dont get viruses is because viruses made for windows dont work on Apple, as simple as that. Most people dont know that though. One of the reasons I use my Linux to watch porn. Nobody cares about linux in order to make viruses for it.

Stop being such an apple stan. What I say is true. Viruses are code in different languages, in different OS and it can only target the OS it was program into. Sorry if that damages your view of how Apple products are so much better than Windows.

Fact: Viruses work on Windows don't work on Apple.

Fact: There are more viruses for Windows because it sold more than Apple over the decades

The security by obscurity argument has been used for years, and has been proven wrong repeatedly.

Apple is inherently safer because it's based on UNIX and is programmed better as a whole.

Right and all viruses are made universally compatible like in real life...right ;)

Mac OS is programmed way better than Windows I won't deny that fact. But just because of that doesn't mean the viruses program in a certain OS will work on another one. Apple didn't sell a lot to businesses and the like, so people wouldn't program viruses for the Mac because it just wasn't profitable for them, so they programmed it for the one that was more used, Windows.

Dude if you think viruses made for windows work for Mac you're an idiot as Kobe/Lebron stans are.

I didn't say that.

Of course they won't work.

But your assumption that there isn't an attempt to make OS X viruses is flawed. They have tried, but it's usually fruitless. It isn't because the numbers aren't there, but because it's simply harder due to OS X's UNIX.

I've seen and heard every argument made, and it simply boils down to OS X being more secure that hackers don't want to spend their time. Don't you think there's some hackers out there trying to make a name for themselves?

Every year they have a security competition and Macs are always the primary target. And guess what computer the winner usually select as part of their prize? Macs.

If Apple did indeed get shitted on with the same amount of viruses that Windows gets it will be headline news all over the world. And the hacker would be rich. As it stands if Apple does have a trojan or a small virus or hack, it makes the news and the hacker feels like a king.

So best believe the top hackers are trying their best, and the average hacker tries but moves on, because OS X is inherently safer.

To top it off... Apple patches up their security holes ASAP. They don't wait and ***** foot around. And everybody gets the update (dependent on the OS version of course).

Apple is known for fixing up any holes immediately, as soon as 'hours' after they're discovered, but usually within the first 24-48 hours. While it may take Windows weeks- months, and even then not all users will get the update nor know about an update.

You do know that someone made a virus that hacked the mac in a couple of seconds right? And apple took the video down and made a patch to prevent that after the guy gave him the video. He practically challenged the company and won.

Of course, and that also proves how fast Apple is to patch shit up.

But it also depends on 'how' the hacker got access.

When this happened the Mac community got their pitchforks out en mass. But the way the hacker got access to hack was under non-real world scenario. It wasn't like the run of the mill Windows hack or virus.

I did agree with you that Mac was better programmed. But it doesn't mean crap. Windows get a lot more viruses made for it in a day than Mac does on a good year since a lot of business use it.

Walgreens photo editor? Windows

ATM's? Uses windows (XP for that matter:biggums: )

Government computers? Uses windows (mostly 7)

Banks (Windows)

Church's and McDonalds uses windows too.

Most business uses windows nowadays, which is why it is a prime target for hackers. Apple is not. Trust me, Apple will get more viruses as time goes on, or at least IOS will since it is becoming more used as time goes by.

Don't know...but the problem with those cloud servers is that once hacked you can access whatever you want because everything is there. And most of those servers are in other countries where it would not be so hard depending on the laws there.

no that is not what happened. the guy who leaked the photos claims that he was simply a collector, not the hacker. he said that he aquired the photos from various sources with bitcoins.

as far as i know there is zero evidence that anything relating to apple was hacked. even if apple was hacked, that still doesnt explain the photos taken with androids.

i think its far more likely that these photos were aquired through social engineering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_engineering_(security)) than a hack.

pictures sent to people with iphones do not automatically get saved to icloud

that's correct but it depends on if you have that turned on and if you save the pic...

if you have icloud enabled to store pics and you save the pic in your camera roll then it's in the cloud... if you just look at the pic in the message then it won't be moved to the cloud

but once it's in your camera roll and you are saving those pics to the cloud then it's there even if you delete off the phone...

i only save contacts to the cloud so if i lose my phone or its stolen then i'm not completely out of luck

reading some more they think now the original hack was on one or two accounts in the cloud which accessed the contact lists in some of these folks phones and went from there, was probably more than one person using the code since so many accounts were accessed in such a short amount of time...

hack code may have been released by a security firm that had found the weakness in the app then it snowballed from there

obviously the story is still evolving... kind of fun watching the folks who may have inadvertently caused this jump into cover my ass mode...lol

Why would people pay for inferior products that are less secure and limited? Linux is different and there is a learning curve, but it's the same learning curve as the other products. It might be different, but it's not hard to use.

Because stuff like video games are made for Windows and Apple does cool ads that make stupid people buy their products. Plus their cellphones are great.

And most people do not know what an OS is and how to install one anyways.
