Kind of hard for 15 teams to make 8 playoff spots isn't it? Where did you learn math?

The Jazz, Lakers, and Wolves are legitimately bad teams. They would not sniff the playoffs in the East.
The Kings and Nuggets would have a decent shot, I could see them as 6-8 seeds, maybe higher if things pan out. Certainly not top 4 seeds though.
The Suns and Pelicans would absolutely be in the East playoffs, probably as the 3 seed.
And then all the playoff teams from the West last year would be threats for the ECF.

kobe, lin, hill and boozer are easily enough to make the east playoffs, wolves if the rookies even play decent in addition to rubio, pek and dieng are also easily playoff contenders

Love the Wolves' core, but they're too young.
Boozer is complete garbage, Lin is maybe the 20th best PG in the league, and Hill is average. Kobe isn't going to put up 30ppg, even if he's healthy that offense is only above average. Then you've got the defense, which will be bottom 5 in the league without question.

He is assuming you put each team individually in the east.
For example Lakers in the east instead of the Bucks.
Bucks in the west Lakers in the east -> Lakers would make the PO
Kings in the east instead of Bucks etc.

Silver flirted with the idea of making play-off seedings bigger, so the 9th, 10th, 11th, seeded teams that usually battle for that 8th play-off seed can have a shot at post season success, instead of getting 40 plus wins and still missing the play-offs.

Fair enough, but the East has improved since then. The Hawks, Knicks, and Nets all profile to be teams fighting for the 8 seed, and all are much better in their current form than that Bucks team.

Yeah but he just articulated it poorly, combined with some of his grammar mistakes, it was worth making fun of to me. It's a stupid, redundant thread anyway, it's a tired angle, complaining about the unfairness of the playoff format. Wolves/Jazz would have no chance of sniffing the playoffs in the East. Willing to bet Kings/Lakers wouldn't get in, either.

The Jazz are obviously tanking again. Remains to be seen rather they have an NBA caliber starting pg or not. Their back-up should probably be in the D-league. They will have another rookie in the rotation I imagine. Can Kanter and Favors play together? They have no one else that is starting caliber if they can't. Can Snyder coach? They're two highest paid guys including one max player have a lot to prove yet.

We didn't have our best player, (much better than anyone on the 2012/13 Bucks) for 3/4 of the season.
The 8 seed in the East next season should have close to 45 wins.

im just saying how is it fair that a team that wouldnt even make the playoffs in the west could be playing in the finals if they were in the east. A team like teh rockets or grizzlies might not make the playoffs but would be ec champion favorites in the east

Of course the West is much better than the East, but it's pretty sensationalist to say the Jazz or Timberwolves could make the playoffs over here.
