3-peat Shaq?
In the playoffs circa 2005 / 2007, Amare was UNREAL ... I remember dude just viciously throwing dunks down guys' throat. Not sure about the year, but his series' vs Dallas and SA were crazy.

Shaq
Kareem
Hakeem
Dirk
Chuck
Karl Malone
Moses Malone
Wilt
There's a couple more...

A lot...but that shouldn't take away from how much of a beast young, healthy Amare was offensively.

Offense is more than scoring points... dozens of NBA bigs arguably scored better than Stoudemire... factor in assists, setting screens, keeping defenses honest off the ball? He's a 2 assist per-game player at his peak. The list of equal too-or-better impacting offensive bigs is going to be long, not short. I mean, people are going to rattle off the obvious guys like Robinson, Duncan, Olajuwon, Wilt, Shaq, Kareem... but is he better than Bob McAdoo? Elvin Hayes? or how about great passing bigs like Bill Walton? If we are comparing relative to competition, Mikan? Bob Pettit? The list of great offensive big men is large, HOF bigs that had great offensive (passing and scoring) used to be a staple of NBA basketball.

amare is the big man version of jordan. He wouldve been the next big thing since jordan if not for the injury. NBA became healthy that year because of him and nash.

Was adding to his list on the OP.

Forget about just offense..
What made Amare special was his defensive intensity, in terms of reaction speed and shot blocking which was UNREAL in his time
IMO his dominance on both ends of the floor, with phenomenal athleticism made him special in the mid 2000's
Here's a great example

Yes, offense is more than just scoring points... See: Dwight Howard
In some ways the two are similar offensively. Neither is a gifted passer whatsoever, neither is a player you're really going to run your offense through (en route to a championship) yet they can score efficiently and alot. But at least Amare had a midrange jumper, and you could more easily play him at either PF or C.
STAT was definitely a powerful scorer in his prime (pre-injury) but his basketball IQ is questionable imo and offensively he didn't necessarily scare me any more than say current Griffin, Jermaine Oneal in his best seasons, or 2006 Elton Brand. Sure he scored more but something to keep in mind is the free wheeling pace and style the Suns played in. Yet Amare did look ok in NYC for a minute. But nothing too great

His first step was the reason he was so good. I don't think he was that good on offense. When you consider all the other stuff.

In terms of PF's scoring the rock:
Barkley
McAdoo (I know he played a ton of center too though)
Petitt
Elvin Hayes
Mailman
Dirk
So I think Amare could be as high as seventh in terms of scorers at PF. Peak Amare was a beast and had an EPIC blend of freak athletic ability, inside game, midrange game, and slashing ability. To bad the knee injuries robbed him of some great years. He was FOR SURE headed to the HOF it appeared.

Many.
I would take LMA over Stoudemire offensively.
Amare gets very overrated offensively; he played in the 7 seconds or less D'Antoni offense that is known to inflate numbers, and he benefited greatly from Nash when it comes to creating scoring opportunities.
The ithing with having Nash around is that Amare's ability to create shots for himself/score one-on-one gets masked up.
It is the same thing that happened with Malone. Normally, he was putting up scoring numbers that where unbelievable, but even though he was a very good scorer, he wasn't as good as his numbers suggested. Which is why at the end of games, when he was asked to deliver points in 1v1 situations he was exposed.
Amare was a very good scoring PF, but he isn't really good enough to ask this question.

Amare was a goat level finisher with a very wet jumper no more, no less.

Bob Mcadoo was one of them

a lot.
because his ability to score off the ball doesn't include a wide enough range to make up for his lack of iso moves when in comparison with all of the big men in history.

Maybe I'm just ignorant now, since I haven't seen much of Hayes...but he's a career 45% shooter. All his high scoring seasons are around that mark or even lower. So if we ignore everything else and look only at scoring ability, how is he better than Amare?

Pre injury Amare was a solid playoffs performer. And he was definitely a top 3-5 player in the league.

A lot were better. Amares post game was weak. He did most of his scoring face up off the dribble, never much in the way of go-to moves in the post, unless posting up and then turning and facing up is considered a go-to move.

I would think a lot or some of were just as good. Offense is more than scoring points as people already said.
In terms of PF:
Barkley
K.Malone
McAdoo
Dirk
Mchale (maybe, but it is more skilled)
Chris Webber
Duncan
With Cs you have:
Wilt
Shaq
Hakeem
Moses Malone
Kareem
David Robinson
Patrick Ewing
But that doesn't change that Amare was a beast in his prime tho. He was awesome back in the day.
