....and how does media manipulate how we view it?

Got this from another forum. Something to put into perspective on how backwards our law enforcement system is and how media is used as a tool to enforce it.
This is 2 parts. First:

Before you read the second part rank the order in which crime is the worst threat to society in your opinion

Assault
Drug trafficking
Driving with a prohibited license
Distracted driver (talking on cell)
Home break in
Auto theft

Now that you ranked them, rank these crimes again in the order that you see in your city/town/district which laws are the most prioritized in how they are regulated, enforced, and/or investigated

What was the common outcome is that the first list and the second list were the complete opposite in terms of ranking. On the first list home break in and assault were considered the worst crimes whereas the common top two on the second list distracted driving and driving prohibited topped the list.

Something to think about

drug trafficking, driving under suspension, petty MJ possession, all those type of crimes generally arise out of traffic stops. Since most police departments have patrolmen that do nothing but drive around patrolling all day you see many more of those arrests for low priority crimes.

Myth

The punishments are where you can see where law enforcement has priority regarding which is worse. But many times those are less frequent or harder to spot. If they spend their time watching those worse crimes, many cops would have been paid by our taxes to not accomplish a damn thing all day. Traffic violations are maybe less severe of a crime, but it is helpful to make sure people are driving safe and it is something that they can do while they wait for a call regarding something more severe, such as assault or break ins. Frequency does not mean it is their priority.
