It's not the property they are defending, it's their pride. Walking up to someone, looking them in the eyes, and purposefully stepping on their feet isn't much different than spitting in their face. Neither action does any serious physical damage... but the damage to someone's pride is enough to typically elicit a strong response, especially from (poor) people with little to defend in life, but their pride.

its not youtubes fault. youtube works on ad revenue. If things get views, it generates ad revenue.

these guys have a video where they go around and make it look like they are filming black people, but are actually taking selfies that has 3.15 million views (probably over $10k earned)
and another video where they ask black people if they want to buy a gun and then show its a water gun. they almost get shot during this video.
2.88 million views (probably $8.5-9k earned)

threads like this promoting them and the people that watch their videos is what makes them earn money.
they focus on "pranks in the hood" because those are the most popular videos of this type.

There was one russian guy that asked black drug dealers to sell him drugs and when they did he would talk into a mike on his shoulder asking them to send in reinforcements (basically pretending to be a cop) and the black drug dealers would run away.
