I live in a smaller town but not far from the business districts. If I was into bars I'd never have to worry about DUI 's. Personally I love going to the library I read some of the monthly mags and their DVD collection makes netflicks obsolete. How about y'all ?

Haven't been to the library in like 10 years.

But I got a couple bars, restaurants, stores and an outdoor mall within walking distance.

A gas station, a Wendy's and your mom's house.

No joke like 80 bars, dozens more restaurants/coffee shops, multiple grocery stores, a downtown shopping area, movie theater, an REI outlet, library, doctors offices, etc.

Library is about a 2.5 mile walk from my house. I only used it like 4 times for projects (it was a 5 minute walk from my high school). High school is a 1.5-2 mile walk so occasionally I go there to do laps. Occasionally run into old friends who are playing pick up soccer games. Nice homely restaurants within a mile. Haven't had much experience with bars but the really good ones I know of in my area are a 20 min drive away.

The thing to do back in high school was to go to Steinway/Astoria, Queens very late at night and just take a train for morning classes senior year. Never did it but I have ton of friends who went out all night smoking hookah and chilling then coming in for a 7am class half asleep.

I live about a mile from Wal-Mart, Target, Publix, Ross, Old Navy, Petsmart, etc.

I have 2 D.U.I.s and I can't get my license back until next year. Therefore, living close to everything is a big plus.

When I first moved to my neighborhood I was always able to park on my block and there were a several factories/warehouses still operating. Now there are more restaurants than factories on my block and I can't park within 4 blocks of my house if I come home late on the weekends but I could walk to a few rock clubs. TV on the Radio and Public Enemy are playing near me soon.

I first heard of Action Bronson while walking my dog and seeing all these kids lined up to see him and wondering if they knew who Charles Bronson was.

If you consider 4 miles to be walking distance, then it used to be Disneyland, the school I worked at, and a couple malls. Now, 4 miles is most of the entire town I live in.

I live in a condo down here in Houston. We got a lot of fast food restaurants not too far away (20 minute walk). There's McDonalds, Subway, Taco Bell, and Burger King. I mostly go to Subway. Don't really eat McDonalds, Burger King or Taco Bell (I occasionally get the baja blast freeze and a burrito from there, though. Maybe once every 3-4 weeks)

I live within walking distance, around 7-10 minute walk to what we call the Village and it consists of various shops and restaurants. It basically covers everything.

There is a trendy drinking spot there, high end cuisine, local bakery, post office, local breakfast joint mixed in with some chains like Chipotle, Banana Republic, Coach, J. Crew, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Habit.

To be honest, since moving to this part of the city, I have been much more active in getting shit done as compared to the suburbs where I use to live. The only thing is that I am not physically active as I use to since there is no place to ride a bike and the gym is out of the way. I like to ride on trails which we had as oppose to riding on the streets with traffic now.

Tons of stuff. Bars, stores, parks, restaurants, 2 libraries whatever you want. If you are willing to walk like 20 minutes, chinatown (in Brooklyn) is there and that stretches for another mile or so as well as a movie theater and a few more parks. I live across the street from a school so we have the yard which has a track to run on and a playground literally across the street.

That's on narrows which is by the water which is like 15 minutes away and then a few blocks up, so pretty close. The stores are close and then it's a few blocks just residential until the water. This house is near there.

i live by a library and two separate strip malls with sports bars, chinese/japanese buffet, two big supermarkets, sonic, burger king, taco bell, italian place, gym, dollar store, etc.

I live in the suburbs so my situation is weird. The back of my development abuts one of the strip malls and the other is across the street. My neighborhood is super quiet and it's literally a 5 minute walk through this little park and i'm at all these different places.

i'm a cheap bastard though so i'd rather drink at home.

Yeah. So it's a different school than I was thinking. I didn't want to name it directly.

I grew up near there, closer to the Chinatown.

Do you know what's inside a Mall?

My village has everything and better than a mall. It is more localized with local restaurants with a mix of chain. Where can you go buy some new duds, grocery shop and eat some trendy spots. Then go to the local creamery and get an ice cream for dessert. All on foot.

Trust me, it is an insult to call a mall a happening place.:oldlol:

There is a bank and a post office. There is a local men's clothing store that does tailoring.

You know where I get my bread at? The bakery. Olive oil? At the olive oil store.

I think my quality of life shot up since moving here.

I am not a snob but living by the Village has allowed me to enjoy the finer things.

I didn't know people care for olive oil till I went into that store. What I am trying to say is that my quality of living and the little pleasures of life has gone up since moving here.

I get fresh bread, cooking oil, organic fruits and vegetables. You don't have to be rich to enjoy these little things. At the end of the day, the breads go for half price.

If I want a pizza, I go to a pizza place; if I want to get some shoes, I go to a shoe store; if I want to buy a dildo to stick it up my ass, I go to a porn shop. The f*ck is your point? How has the quality of your life improve when you are shopping at places that are supposed to sell sh*t you went there for?

Whoa.

Lucky NYC motherf*ckers.

Within 2-3 miles.. like nothing.

But within 5-6..

We got a library, a few parks three ethnic grocery stores (Asian, Polish, Rican), two gyms, only 4-5 bars.. one Irish, Carvel, Starbucks, 5 Subways, 6 Dunkin Donuts :oldlol:, 1 Trader Joe's, few clothing stores, few cell phone stores, 3 basketball courts, 1 very nice mall, maybe 2 lounges, and very clean gorgeous parks and nice big lake/pond.

Funny part is that I live smack dab between one city with an average salary of 120k and one with 28k. So in da hood you've got vines and busted up fences and pitbulls and terrible property along with cracked pavement cheap barbers and then right after they got this entire area with a bunch of rich Jewish people

I needa move to the city.

I live in Hollywood, so pretty much anything you can think of. Despite its reputation as a car city, LA has tons of neighborhoods that are loaded with amenities that can comfortably be accessed by foot.
