The obvious choice is Lebron. We've seen what Melo can do if he get's enough touches but statswise the answer is Lebron.

Tough one, there's many great choices, and I've seen many players in International play, but objectively speaking I have to go with LeBron James

how many players have been in atleast 3 or more competitions and not lost a single game ( and been the mvp of the gold medal game atleast once )

that guy is the GOAT team usa player

especially since it was during the absolute best competition among other countries

and even more so since before he joined that exact same team sucked it up

Melo or Durant. The three pointers are like regular jump shots to them.

i cant put anyone from the era of bad international teams as the best team USA player ever

if players from the 80's in the nba get nods over todays players due to playing in a tougher league. then the same should be done for players from the 00's international competition

since they had to face way tougher teams

One of these two guys, yes. There's no other answer other than Jordan and/or Barkley. Maybe Kidd or Kobe.

Someone post some stats.
In my opinion, the candidates. Only included are gold medal, undefeated teams. Players like Wade, Bron, Melo competed in 2004 Olympics with little playing time as rookies, and in 2006 took home bronze. Only amateur included was MJ's collegiate 1984 performance leading Team USA to gold.

LeBron
2012: 13 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg, 1 bpg, 1 spg
2008: 16 ppg, 5 rpg, 4 apg, 1 bpg, 2 spg
2007: 18 ppg, 4 rpg, 5 apg, 2 spg

Durant
2012: 20 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 apg, 2 bpg, 1 spg
2010: 23 ppg, 6 rpg

Melo
2012: 16 ppg, 5 rpg, 1 apg
2008: 12 ppg, 4 rpg
2007: 21 ppg, 5 rpg

Kobe
2012: 12 ppg, 2 rpg, 1 apg, 1 bpg, 1 spg
2008: 15 ppg, 3 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg
2007: 15 ppg, 2 rpg, 3 apg, 2 spg

Wade
2008: 16 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg, 2 spg

Barkley
1996: 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 apg
1992: 18 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg, 3 spg

Jordan
1992: 15 ppg, 2 rpg, 5 apg, 5 spg
1984: 17 ppg, 3 rpg, 2 apg, 2 spg

For me so far it's a toss up between LeBron and Durant. Though there have been other impressive performances, their body of work is the best. Durant's solo dolo 2010 tourney takes the cake though. Guy was sniping teams from deep. Easy money.

Memorable Team USA performances:

Iverson and Marbury's heart in the 2004 Olympics.
Wade's 2008 Olympics, as well as his 2006 were incredible.
Kobe's Gold Medal clutch performance. Along w/ his inspiring defense in 2007.
MJ's defense in '92, handcuffs, thief in the night w/ 5 steals per game.
Melo's 2006, and 2007 jump shot barrage.
Barkley's impact offensively in the paint, and rebounding in '92. Intimidation.

But Slim Reaper, and the King are IMO the best Team USA players of all-time. It's a damn shame KD pulled out of this tournament. They need him more than ever this year.

Not sure about "best team USA players", but they definitely had the best and most memorable performances on the international stage.

Kobe would've never let the USA lose. Never.

Lebron and his stans can take the percentages.

Kobe fans will take the wins.

IMO Durant is the best international player. His size and scoring ability make him tough to stop. I would go with Barkely and Lebron as my next 2 options but Lebron got a bronze in his first time around. Kobe is a good choice as well

Durant and Melo cause they got size length and they can shoot the ball from basically everywhere.Especially Durant is a nightmare for international basketball.he can play stretch 4 and score from everywhere
Lebron is good due to his athleticism but he can t score on set plays and he can t shoot that well. But he can score in bunches on the fast breaks

James leads USA past Australia in quarterfinals with his first Olympic triple-double

"Freak of nature," Team USA guard Chris Paul said this week. "He's, what, six or seven inches taller than me and maybe 60 pounds [heavier] than me. And he can do everything I can do with the ball. Almost."

Barkley and Durant. Barkley took those games back then more seriously than anyone else. Phila has already posted his numbers and these were years when his NBA FG%'s were on the decline. Even showed great range for the international game, which, to be honest, I always thought was overrated in his NBA career (I think he took more long range shots than he should).
Durant was simply the best international scorer I've ever seen play for the US. His smooth but still athletic game is tailor-cut to dominate FIBA games, especially when given star treatment by refs.
