3 major breakups in the last 7-8 years (1 recently) and i've found that women seem to be more receptive to this approach (you may even make it up). My assumption is that women perhaps perceive you as a "seasoned" guy who is willing to commit. Either that, or they may believe you are safe; the "if another person was with him, there HAS to be something good about him" mentality.
Anyone else benefit from this?
